Hotel Miyajima Villa

"First of all this hotel was just steps from the ferry where you enter the island. Very convenient! Secondly, the food at this hotel was AMAZING!!!! This is from someone who has traveled all over Japan and eaten my way through those cities. Thirdly, the onsen was fantastic!!! It overlooks the water and the ferry coming and going to the island. It gets steamed up sometimes but it was great! Fourthly, my hotel room was interesting and not just the standard Japanese hotel room. My room was 2 stories with a loft bedroom. Lastly, they had a fantastic lounge/ lobby with a great library of books to look through with lots of places to relax including a headed igloo in the back lawn area of the hotel. I give this hotel 5 stars! "

"Great place to stay on Miyajima. Recommend staying overnight on Miyajima rather than just doing the daytrip from Hiroshima. Outdoor onsen was beautiful - even caught sight of deers on the woods while soaking in there. Traditional rooms. Dinner was served in the restaurant. Breakfast had Japanese and Western food. "

"You really can't beat the views of Mt Fuji, we went for one of the rooms and although it was cloudy when we arrived, we woke up with a clear sky and a great view. The in room onsen is great and the room overall is spacious and very comfortable. The hotel staff is super nice with a good enough level of english. Food was great. Definitely would recommend this place, one of our top stays while in Japan."

Miyajima Seaside Hotel

"Pros - The dinners included and served in our room were fantastic. The hotel shuttle was helpful. The location and the island are beautiful. We climbed Mt. Misen which was very scenic. It takes some time to reach Hiroshima from here (at least an hour to an hour and a half). The hotel's facilities are somewhat dated but the staff is very gracious and kind. "

"a 2-year old hotel with friendly and helpful front staff .when i needed assistance to call a hotel in hiroshima to retrieve some personal items left there inadvertently, they offered to do that for me. the traditional japanese dinner costing yen per pax and service rendered were excellent. room was perfect-- very spacious and yukatas and pajamas provided . rooms are on the second , third and fourth floors. public bath on 5th floor has an indoor and an outdoor one where one can see the mainland and the pier. a very memorable stay for both of us."

"We missed our first night as the ferry was cancelled due to a typhoon but that meant we stayed for the whole of the next day on the island. It is so beautiful and plenty to see, kids went up the ropeway and said that was impressive though the one who came down the nature trail was surprised when he met a couple of snakes. Saw a new-born deer prancing excitedly on its first visit to the sand. Worth an overnight stay to catch the sunrise and sunsets but beware that the restaurants mostly close early once the day-trippers have gone. Onsen was clean and quiet. Really pleased we stayed on the island rather than just day-tripping from Hiroshima."

Auberge Mizuhaso

"My decision to go on a trip was very sudden, so I didn't have much choice in booking a hotel two days before the stay. I chose a Japanese-style single room at Auberge Mizuhaso and was not disappointed in the least. The room looks traditional but with a modern feel, including a huge plazma TV (which I didn't get to watch). Air conditioning goes without saying. You get the futon laid out at the agreed time - mine was ready before I came back from sightseeing. Same goes with the traditional bath. The room itself has a lavatory, but bathrooms are separate, and the big tub will be filled with hot water when you want it to. The hotel provides yukatas for home wear. Regarding breakfast, there is a choice between continental and Japanese style, and I went with the latter. The meal was huge, meaning about a dozen various okazu that I don't know the names for, miso soup, white rice, fish, and local-style bacon and eggs (served raw on a small heater). Add fruit for dessert. Delicious! The hotel is located next to the Aquarium, on the opposite side of the Itsukushima Shrine than the ferry pier, about the same distance. Walking there is not a problem, even with luggage. The place is nice and quiet. The sole issue I'd point out is Internet access. As a guest, you are supposed to receive a 2-hour access password by email, but if you are using web-based mail service, you are stuck. Of course, the staff do their best to help, but the system is not exactly convenient. "

" We wanted a ryokan experience while in Miyajima and stayed here. When we arrived at the ferry, we went to the information booth and they called Jukeiso to pick us up. There’s a free shuttle. They served us tea in our room. Sumptuous dinner was served in the dining room with spectacular views. We booked our own private bath time. It’s a great place to stay. The staff were really nice. "
