Iwate Prefecture hotels & places to stay

The room was reasonably sized, I could open my luggage wide on the floor. about 5-min walk from the West Exit of Morioka Station (just walk straight and there is a side walk between the buildings, walk past Round 1, an entertainment building.) I took a longer walk along the road where there were no stairs, so I didn't have to carry my huge luggage up and down stairs. The side walk has only 10 steps of stairs though and is useful to save time. One of the staff can speak very good English. The only issue I had was about half an hour after I checked in, the staff called and asked me if I was changing my stay from two nights to one night. He said that the hotel received a call from *an organisation/agency name I can't remember* and they were told that I am staying 1 night instead. I had fully paid for 2 nights via agoda and did not modify my booking. I checked and there was no email from Agoda or anyone about the change in my stay. Eventually, I stayed for the 2 nights I fully paid for.

Semi Double Room was tiny, only had a hand width allowance in the walkway after opening up my medium sized luggage fully. Toilet was such that I could spit into the sink while on the toilet seat. However, room was clean and a basic breakfast (bun/crossiant and a drink) was provided for free. How to get there from JR Morioka With stairs: Head to Fesan B1 and take the exit B5/6. Turn left (B6) or right (B5) and walk down the alleyway with the station to your back. Look up and you should be able to see New City Hotel (a brick red building) Without stairs: From the station, follow the signs for Hotel Metropolitan. Just before entering the hotel, you should see an exit to the outside on your right. Take that and cross the road using the traffic light. Turn right and look for the exitway for B5/6 then follow as above.

Cheap and convenient to station plus several Family Marts, many restaurants and a Daiso 100 Yen store within walking distance. The hotel room was actually very clean but the carpet was dirty in the hallway , fresh paint was needed and the bed spreads were kind of worn looking. However, we were comfortable and slept well. We enjoyed the simple breakfast of yogurt, croissants, juice, coffee and basil rolls. If you are used to more flavorful Western food, I highly recommend making the “ Potage Soup” and dipping your croissants in it. It makes an excellent breakfast!

Pro- Clean and comfy bed and room. Friendly staff. Well-equipped with everything you need (you even get toothbrush and razor for free). There's even a small Japanese restaurant on the 1st fl. Economic price for a nice station hotel. Con - Public bath (onsen) is for men only. It's a little far from the station comparing with other station hotel nearby but still in proper walking range.

The hotel is just across the opposite side of the JR train station. It is also conveniently located for access to the Kitakami river where the cherry blossoms are. Walk over to the other side of the train station, you can find nice little local Japanese restaurants. Most of them do not speak English well but the restaurant staffs are very friendly and make you feel welcome. The room and bed are clean and comfortable although the room size is small (by Japanese standard is OK). The hotel staff is friendly and help us with information and direction despite limited English speaking skill. The make your own free of charge coffee at the lobby is excellent. It is cafe standard and we keep having the coffee every time we are at the lobby! The buffet breakfast spread is sufficient and is wonderful to enjoy breakfast before setting out for the day.

We were so pleased with our stay at this lovely home in Hiraizumi. Our English-speaking hosts made sure that we were comfortable and provided helpful directions to the places that we wanted to see. They picked us up at the train station and provided transportation to some of the sites that were too far to walk to. The Japanese breakfasts prepared by our hostess were elegant and delicious. They also steered us to a wonderful restaurant for dinner run by an English-speaking chef. Our two-night stay was one of the best memories of our trip. We would highly recommend Minpaku Hiraizumi to anyone traveling in this area.

this hotel were one of the best place i've ever had. me & my friends were came early to put our luggages, and take a walk around geibikei. the staff were very helpfull and has so many infos about tourism place around there. we talk much about Indonesia and Japan, such a great memory. we also had koucha (welcome drink) which is so tasty ! the staff were very kind, helped us to use microwave. the hotel was very clean and i love the japanese ambience! the slippers, yukata, futton, the room, etc. we really had a good stay ! location were nice, there was a river and a hill behind the hotel. and also a playground park! we tought there is no konbini around geibikei, because it didnt showed on google map. but, it was wrong, there were family mart and many shops. we were sorry, we didnt had opportunity to say good bye while check out, because it was 5.30 am and we had to catch our train at 6 am. hope will meet again! thank you kaziya bekkan ramatkor yado! really really a good place for stay!

¦e came here for cherry blossom in late April 2014 and staying in Toyoko Inn in the great choice cos' it's close to both the station and the cherry location (along the river). The room is clean and tidy and fully equipped despite of small size. We have a great view of cherry river from the room window also. The only little confusing thing is: check-out time is not clearly informed to guests so we thought check-out time was at 12 am, which turned out to be at 10 am, which made us pay some for extra time.

It's about 15~20 min walk from the railway station, and there is a 24 hours Lawson convenient store with ATM right across the street. The room is very cozy, the facilities are moderate and the breakfast is simple western style buffet but good enough for travelers. The staff are very nice, the only defect is they don't speak English...As I need the accommodation certificate for Japanese Embassy to validate my multiple entry visa for next trip, the language did cause some little trouble, but the staff called some translation service to help the communication for the special request, finally I got everything I needed fast and smooth. If you're a solo-traveler with basic sense for general hotel rules, even if you don't speak Japanese, I think Atto Business Hotel is still a good choice - if you don't mind a little walk.

this was the most expensive room of our trip (14 different hotels around japan) but it was also the largest and the most comfortable. (avg price at all hotels was night and this hotel cost $205/night so not too much more expensive than much lesser hotels). we stayed two nights. we were travelling on motorcycles and the staff provided us with a safe place to park the bikes during our stay. the staff were helpful and friendly and spoke good english. the room was very spacious and comfortable. the city is not pretty to look at so the view from the window wasn't spectacular, but we did have a view of mt iwate. the hotel is connected to the train station and in the basement level there are many different food shops and restaurants to investigate. also not far to walk to the local nightlife district with more food choices there.

The location of the hotel caused significant confusion as there are two Toyoko Inns in Morioka, one called Toyoko Inn Morioka and one called Toyoko Inn Morioka Ekimae. These are 3 blocks apart and both near the Railway Station, but they are not differentiated on the Website so we went to the wrong one. This must be a common occurence as staff gave us a copied map showing how to get to the other one. The Agoda website should make clear that there are 2 similarly named hotels with explicit details on which one is being booked.
