Jing'an and SHA Railway Station hotels & places to stay

Generally a great hotel, very conveniently located. Only thing I would complain is about my brekkie experience. Went to the cafe for brekkie, ordered a waffle from the live cooking station, gave my table token to the cook, but after 15 mins the waffle was still not delivered. Checked with one staff, she went to check my waffle but didn’t come back again. Waited for another 10 mins, seemed no one was making my waffle, so I complained to the manager and left.

We booked into this hotel after being turned down in previously booked HoJo huaihai because we didnt have our original passports which were being returned by consulate next morning. So despite being a chinese hotel, Paramount staff were extremely helpful and customer minded in letting us book and check in late on Sunday evening without our passports. The hotel is quite new and the rooms are very spacious, clean and with a great panoramic windows which offer a spectacular view of Shanghai downtown and light during the day. The bathroom was surprisingly large and comfy with its warm floors. Hotel staff were always very attentive and although breakfast by western standards is not their strength they offer a more than adequate one. Not only we would stay here again but we recommend it to everyone that is looking for a great value hotel and a convenient location next to Jing'an metro station.

Stayed here for a week and loved it. Rooms are incredibly comfortable, beds are huge (could use more TV channels), top-down shower is great, everything is new, modern and clean. The location in Jing'an is superb. Easy to get a cab anywhere, walk to shopping on Nanjing West Road or the Jing'an Temple subway stop. The gym, weight room and pool are all stellar. Equipment is Technogym which I prefer. Breakfast buffet is nice as well as the lobby bar's offerings, room service, etc.

5 mins walk from changshou road metro station, convenient store is right outsidr the metro station. Hotel is new with 24 hours gym. Swimming pool is not open yet or still rennovating. Hotel room is clean and tidy with nice view. Complaint about the cigarette smoke from next door on the non-smoking floor, staff was helpful and changed the other room on other floor for my second day of the stay. Will come back again

Cachet Boutique is very centrally located in the heart of upmarket Jing'an area. Executive room was very spacious and with modern and clean facilities. Even though we didn't opt for breakfast when booking, when we arrived the hotel concierge explained that we would get the free breakfast and daily afternoon tea in the lounge. The food quality was very high. Only drawback is the hotel doesn't have a pool. If you can live with just a gym and the nice lounge, this place is excellent value.

We have stayed at Hilton on some of overseas trips and had mixed feelings when booking hotel at Shanghai based on review from previous guests. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our 4 day stay at this Hilton. - great location /walking distance near some prestigious department centres: Kerry Ann, Reel which are all linked together from basement. A good omen for the hot summer in July. We like the Ole supermarket and also the One in the basement of City Plaza ( opposite to Jing An temple). Good places to buy Chinese and import grocery. - hotel: clean standard room. Friendly/helpful staff/prompt service from Ms Rachel/IT support 24 hrs service/Laura from Housekeeping/Albert from the concierge whichis fully attended for any queries. - room service: exhausted from the heat and walking all over in Xintiandi and Tanzifang, we decided on room service and totally enjoyed the xiu long bao and Hainan chicken as well as the Chinese breakfast which is quite generous for one person to finish.

The room was homey, there were even washing machine (include detergent powder) and microwave inside the room. You can buy foods the night before and re-heat them for breakfast. The room was also clean and neat although the bathroom was very small. There were compliment foods inside the room which you could have them for free, they even put ice cream in the fridge! The location might be a little fuzzy to find for the first time but soon you would realize it is a nice location since there is many restaurants nearby, near to the subway station, convenient store, phone provider, and also a railway ticket office which was very helpful to us for booking ticket to Hangzhou. The room's Wi-Fi connection was also very good. The staff were also nice and very helpful, they let us put our big luggages in their office for 4 days when we went for Hangzhou although we were already check out and only came back to take luggages before we departed to airport to go home. Overall it is very recommended to anyone who are willing to experience a nice local-like stay in Shanghai.

Hotel rooms were quite spacious; our Deluxe room had a living room with dining table (cutlery and plates provided), lounge room with TV, large king sized bed, kitchenette area with washing machine and standard size bathroom. The laundry is great for those that don’t want to carry loads of clothes when travelling; washing powder and a clothesline (in bathroom) is provided. The room was clean, well maintained and could really not find any fault with. Noise was very minimal as well. The hotel is located in a fairly quiet (for Shanghai) street and quite close to the subway. There are a few restaurants and shops nearby but nothing exciting in the neighbourhood. The subway is on Line 1 but does not have any other interchange stations so you will be travelling to Shanghai Railway station (Line 3 and 4 as well as bullet train) People’s Square (line 2 and 8) quite frequently. It is quite close to the bullet train station for those coming from Beijing or other major cities (make sure the train stops at Shanghai Railway station and not at others like Shanghai Hongqiao). Concierge and hotel staff were pretty average; most had poor English and had to seek help from someone else and a lot of the staff didn’t seem to know what was going on such as the shuttle bus service (I believe it exists but only by request). They did happily look after our luggage after we checked out so that’s a plus for them. Overall this was an excellent place to stay, especially for the price we paid and the room we got. You will get the spaciousness and facilities of an apartment-style room with the benefits of being in a hotel.

I loved every bit of my stay. The staff were excellent. My compliments to Thomas in the restaurant and Claire the General Manager. Very personal service and wonderful personalities. The hotel's environmental design and consciousness permeates through its. Easy reach to wonderful Jing'An shopping area. Quiet location. Vibrant restaurant! I recommend the burger... Go for it! Super coffee at the café. Would be good if there were coffee machines in the rooms too. Instant coffee just doesn't "do it" for a hotel of this calibre. Otherwise- yes- do look forward to seeing me again. I'll also use this hotel in my case examples in the International greening business university lectures I give. Well done for giving me a good experience!

overall. i highly recommend this hotel, nice location, very friendly staffs, there are few malls around the hotel (walking distance). it is very easy to get to the main attraction by taxi, if you want to take subway, there is one station around the hotel. there is one supermarket right outside of the hotel, which is good. the breakfast is good, this is a very nice hotel, if you are going to shanghai next time, you should def go check it out.beucase the hotel is located in puxi, which is on the other side of the town, so it will take about 1 hour from pudong airport to the hotel (by taxi).

Intercontinental Shanghai Jing’an has the best concierge team. They certainly went beyond their core duties to make our stay a comfortable and memorable one. During our stay, we encountered typhoon Lekima, Lorenzo shielded us from the rain while we were waiting for our transport just outside the main lobby. What a gentleman! Jerry is an epitome of “service with a smile”. Always smiley and friendly. He helped us many times with transport arrangements and navigation. Reggie, another wonderful staff, who queued 2 hours to buy the speed train tickets just for us. We are extremely happy and grateful for this team of staff. They have made such a big difference to our stay. Besides the top notch service, the hotel has a good breakfast spread. Very clean and beautifully decorated rooms and public area too. You might think our holiday was ruined by the typhoon, however, the people have made it such a memorable and comfortable one. 👍

Over my week-long stay at the Ambassador, I came to acknowledge that I was receiving basically 5-star-value for 4-star-money at the excellent rate I got thru Agoda. The rooms are large and well equipped, no WiFi though (but free Wifi at the executive lounge and on the ground floor) but LAN for nominal charge.The staff was as a rule very efficient, friendly and service oriented. Location was better than I had expected: walking distance to W. Nanjing Rd.; 2 Metro stations close by (Line 2, Jing'an Temple and Jiangsu Road); a small mall for shops and restaurants around the corner (Yueda 889 Plaza). Overall, a very satisfying experience.

Be it work, solo, or a family trip, this hotel is conveniently located right next to Shanghai Railway Station, and there is a bus from Pudong Airport that drops you right behind the hotel for about 2usd. Facilities aren't exactly stellar as it has nothing but a dinning room for breakfast - no pools, or meeting rooms, but several 24 hour marts outside/ Within the room, however, the amenities are all clean and well-supplied. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are sized comfortably. It's also very easy to get anywhere from this hotel as it is so close to main Shanghai station (5 mins walk). Would definitely recommend for all to pick this hotel.

It’s really cheap but super clean. Front staff can speak english not that fluent but good enough to get information that you need. Very kind and clean. Have almost everything you need. Location is ok as long as you take taxi. Its quite far from subway station but you can still walk there. BUT breakfast need to improve, I spent 150RMB for breakfast It doesnt worth it at all. If you want to find cheap and clean place, It will be your best option.

The hotel location and service is good near the MRT and area have some shop and supermarket store but when we stay the power supply was not stable as we just blow the hair and charge our mobile phone till half way then power stop but the light and TV still on, after checking with the counter lady and she say their power not so stable is very not good and cannot accept issue on a 4 star hotel that way a bit disappointed.

big, clean room, very modern. beds and pillows extremely comfortable. free internet connection. great bathroom with big shower. 10 - 15 min walking distance to both shanghai railway station and metro line. disappointed in snack meal from bistro/restaurant. had small issue with paying for room through agoda and then being charged by hotel on credit card but received quick reply from director of oeprations to rectify issue. would highly recommend this hotel for comfort, cleanliness and location.

Very well located and convenient. However, the rooms were a bit older and the service staff was disappointing. No one was there to assist us with the check in and there were 2 blocks. We had to run and move our baggage with an elderly in the cold and rain to check in. After checking in, we asked if we could get help with helping us move our baggages, and they said that the service staff was all busy and told us to wait for an hour!! Breakfast was provided and was delivered to the rooms every morning. We could pick from a selection of our choice from the menu in the apartment. The washing machine in the apartment had a strange smell to it. The rooms were a little old but nonetheless still clean. Expected something better for the price we paid for. The only major advantage was the location.

A top class service hotel. My experience has been truly amazing with St. Regis Shanghai. The brand speaks for itself. I spent 8 nights at the hotel and everyone in the hotel was respectful, has a great attitude and really took care of every need and detail. The restaurants were too notch and I basically tried food from each and every one of their restaurants. It is pricey but their service and the warmth experience makes up for the big price tag. I will definitely stick to the St. Regis brand when travelling in the future. Kudos to all staff and hotel General Manager.

The hotel is located somewhere nearby 昌平路Metro Station（7号线）, just 5 mins walking distance, very convenience. The staffs were really being helpful. We reached there around 09:45 am and the front counter was opened at 10:30 am. Even though the official check-in time should be 12:00 pm, but the staff let us check-in earlier without extra charge as there's an empty room at level 3. She even helped us to carry our luggages up to our room. The con here was no built-in elevator in this hotel, so if you were carrying a huge luggage, pray hard for you. But if your luggage is not really big, this issue won't bother you much. Toiletries and hairdryer were well prepared, cleanliness was good. The bed was so nice to sleep on, good quality. The staff was kind enough to help us called an airport taxi on the day we check-out, saved us alot of trouble and time. If we were coming back to Shanghai, definitely this would be our first choice. Recommended!

The room was spacious and clean. The deco was of an era bygone in the times of the Shanghai Tang tycoons. Will be great for a theme photo shoot. The furniture are all big and heavy in wood with ornate carvings. If you like old school style, this is it. There's a little garden with old old trees facing the hotel and gives it a feel of old colonial days. The garden is surrounded by tall buildings and is hidden from sight, almost secret until we look out of the balcony and discover the lush greenery before us. We did not have any meal in the restaurant and is unaware if there's any restaurant there either. The staff were very helpful and friendly. They responded to our calls and turn up almost immediately. The building is 80 over years old and well, sometimes it's a little cranky. But all turns out well. The location is only 10 min walk to the Jing Ann Temple which also has a tube station below. There's an upmarket departmental store and a gourmet supermarket beside. Further up the road are upmarket boutiques of designer labels. Great if you like label shopping. On the way back to our hotel, we passed by the old house of the famous Chinese Authoress, Chang Ai Ling. It was late and we would love to visit that house someday if it's open to public. Our cab driver does not know this hotel apparently.The road leading in is very unobtrusive and straddled and a neighbouring tall building. Should you be lost, just drop off and ask the carpark warden for directions. However, I would say the stay is well worth it. The building and the room have so much character in them that sets them apart from the regular hotel room layout which is rather predictable. A hidden gem that reminiscience of old Shanghai.
