Red Planet Hotel in Cagayan de Oro - Not Worth the Price for the Limited Amenities”
I recently stayed at the Red Planet Hotel during a solo trip to Cagayan de Oro, and I have to say, I was quite disappointed with the overall experience, especially considering the relatively high price point. To start, the lack of basic amenities in the room was quite surprising. There was no breakfast provided, no phone, and no plates, utensils, cups or glasses. As a solo traveler, I found myself having to go out and purchase my own drinking cup just to have a way to get water. This felt like an unnecessary inconvenience, especially for a hotel in this price range. The room itself was clean and the bed was reasonably comfortable, but the overall feel was quite sparse and minimalist, without any of the extra touches you might expect from a hotel stay. There was no minibar, no tea/coffee facilities, and no room service options. It really felt like the bare essentials with nothing extra. Another major downside was the lack of any on-site dining or catering options. Having to go out and find a place to eat for every meal added an extra layer of planning and logistics to my trip, which was frustrating given that I had already paid a premium price to stay at the hotel. The location was decent, being fairly central and close to some key attractions. But ultimately, I don't feel that the Red Planet Hotel in Cagayan de Oro represents good value for money. The limited amenities and lack of basic services make it a poor choice, in my opinion, especially for solo travelers who may be looking for a more convenient and well-rounded hotel experience. If you're visiting Cagayan de Oro, I would recommend exploring other accommodation options that offer more bang for your buck in terms of facilities and overall guest experience. The Red Planet Hotel, at least in its current state, simply doesn't live up to its price point.

Best budget hotel”
My family and i have been staying at this hotel every time we come home to CDO and it's worth it every time. The staff are welcoming and accommodating each time. The room is clean. The location is also great as it's near all the major malls. This time, we had our mother stay here before her flight and she needed somewhere close to LKK. Staff offered to coordinate with Magnum to have her picked up at the hotel. I will always suggest this hotel to family and friends looking for a budget-friendly stay when visiting.

As a Red App member and frequent guest of Red Planet Hotels for several years, I’ve always appreciated the cleanliness, polite staff, and convenient locations that the brand consistently provides. However, my recent experience with the Cagayan de Oro branch has left me thoroughly disappointed and questioning their commitment to guest satisfaction—especially for loyal, returning customers. My situation was a simple request to rebook (not cancel) due to an unexpected event, and yet, despite my status as a member and frequent guest, my request was denied without a second thought. I reached out through emails and calls multiple times, but all went unanswered. Even Agoda, the platform I booked through, tried to assist with possible solutions, but their request was also declined. I’m grateful to Agoda for their support, but I’m saddened that Red Planet itself showed little consideration. Adding to my frustration, my assigned business account manager, Mr. C.T., has been unreachable despite repeated texts and calls. When a hotel emphasizes guest membership benefits and builds loyalty programs, one would expect a more supportive response, especially in situations like these. Red Planet’s commitment to delivering quality stays is clear in the physical upkeep of their spaces and the respectful demeanor of their staff, yet the dedication to their members, especially when it truly counts, appears questionable. I hope this feedback reaches the management with a sense of urgency, as this experience has undermined the trust and appreciation that I’ve long had for the brand. Reliable communication, especially with loyal guests, is the heart of service and should be given the attention it deserves.

As a solo traveler who’s flight is early dawn, my stay at Red Planet CDO is worth the money spent for a relaxing night prior my travel. The room is very clean and organized, AC is functioning well, room has enough room for me to move around even with an open luggage👍🏻 TV is working well tho it doesnt have Netflix/YouTube but its ok. Bed is well tucked-in and very comfy to sleep (you’ll really have a good rest!) location is just beside SMDT so you can just buy your needs btw. Room I stayed doesnt have a glass for water or free toiletries, you have to buy them at the lobby worth P50. Staff is also accommodating and polite.👍🏻 Overall, Im gonna recomm this hotel!
