I had the best time here. the traditional japanese breakfast was super yummy and the onsen was very enjoyable. We got a corner room so it was spacious and lovely. A very nice escape from tokyo, i saw a lot of locals staying here too. The building has a lot of history to it. we are honoured to have stayed here. One of the best hotels at Hakone. recommend it fully.
I would most certainly recommend this beautiful well kept hotel. The azaleas gardens are absolutely stunning, even in autumn. The onsen are most relaxing, the food at the French restaurant delicious, all in all a perfect experience. I couldn’t think of a better place to stay in Hakone and will definitely come back!
We chose this hotel for the lake view but unfortunately didn't get to see Mt fuji since it was cloudy both days we were in Hakone. We came from Osaka and the bus from station from Mishima station to the closest stop to the hotel would have taken 40-50 minutes but only runs about every 30 minutes so we ended up taking a taxi. The bus stop also is a 20 minute walk uphill to the hotel but the hotel has a free shuttle that comes 3 times an hour. Getting to Owakudani from the hotel also takes about 35-40 minutes bc the bus stop is about a 10-15minute walk from the hotel and then another 20 minute ride. So the location isn't exactly the most convenient but I think worth it for the lake view. Note that public transport is pretty limited when it comes to frequency AND time. Besides location though. The actual hotel was amazing. The onsen was indoor and outdoor which was very nice. The staff are very polite. We got in room service for food because there aren't many restaurants around and it was a little pricey but still very good. The room is big for Japan standards and comes with a table and 2 chairs. They also had free Popsicles outside the onsen which we took advantage of. The large garden is beautiful and well worth a stroll. The view from the room of the garden and lake and surrounding mountains was gorgeous.
Excellent food, beautiful rooms and a lovely onsen. Best of all, it’s very quiet and peaceful, far from the tourist crowds. This was my fourth stay here and I definitely will return.
Great location in terms of views of Lake Ashi and Mt. Fuji, however, it’s tucked a bit away. About a 20min walk from the closest bus stop, some part of the way significantly uphill. They do have a shuttle service so you can coordinate pick-up times — our schedule was so unpredictable and we didn’t have a way to call the hotel so we weren’t able to do this. Luckily, we stumbled upon an italian restaurant on our walk over and after dinner, they called up Odakyu for us and they sent for a shuttle to pick us up. Service was great, breakfast was amazing. You could tell that back in the day, the place must have been the fanciest hotel in the area but it’s a bit outdated now, but it’s probably part of the charm. There is also a nice big garden, which I imagine can be super pretty when the flowers are in bloom. Overall, a tad bit pricey, but well worth your money given the views and amazing service. Would plan transport accordingly as there are no taxis around.
Hotel De Yama is in a gorgeous place near Hakone and Lake Ashi. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is willing to spend a bit more for a truly gorgeous view with phenomenal service. The public baths were also very clean and relaxing.
The building is classic and well-maintaiend. The room is quite big and very clean and the garden is beautiful 💖
สถานที่เงียบสงบออนเซ็นส่วนกลางดีมากสะอาดเป็นสัดส่วน อาหารฝรั่งเศสอร่อยครับส่วนอาหารญี่ปุ่นก็เยี่ยม แต่อาจจะลำบากแต่อาจจะลำบากสำหรับผู้ที่เดินทางมาเที่ยวโดยไม่ได้ใช้รถยนต์ เพราะรถของโรงแรมที่รับจากท่าเรือจะหมดแค่ 5 โมงเย็นแต่ถ้ามีการวางแผนที่ดีโรงแรมนี้ถือเป็นตัวเลือกที่ดีมากครับครั้งหน้าถ้ามาก็จะพักที่นี่อีกครับ
The hotel location was fantastic, had good views of Mount Fuji from our room and the gardens Staff was friendly, Urmila from front desk was very helpful. She helped us order room service just before they close All restaurants and room service closes at 7:30
The hotel has a nice fusion of French & Japanese vibe. The staff are either fluent in English, Mandarin and Japanese which is a great help to ask and assess to all the facilities available.
This is a very nice hotel with transitional hot spring. Facility is great and the food in restaurant are excellent. Staff are very polite and helpful. Highly recommend! We booked the hotel near Christmas holiday so the price is higher than normal days. Suggest to plan ahead to enjoy the early bird discount. Just one thing you should be careful is the transportation. The buses are not too many and you better study the bus schedule before going there.

Rooms are on the older side, could use renovation. However nice facilities, spacious rooms, excellent staff with restaurants and lounge on site. The hotel also provides complimentary shuttle to neighboring Motohakone port where you can easily get onto the pirate ship and buses. Hakone is a very small town so we took a taxi from the nearest JR station. Would probably try to stay in a different town that is more accessible next time.

Very old school traditional hotel. Restaurant staff will make you feel like a royal.
Location away from crowded area. Hotel is old. Onsen has only 2 pools. Restaurants good service and good food. But expensive. Wish discount could be given for staying guests.
The property has old charm, including the rooms. Decent onSen facility. Book the French restaurant for breakfast and meals, we really enjoyed the breakfast there. Couldn’t manage to get reservation for dinner so ate at the Japanese restaurant which was a disappointment. Sushi was not fresh and everything tasted average; expected better standards given its local food.
Amazing location with minutes walk down to Hakone Shrine area. The balcony has a very nice garden and park view. Recommended
This is best hotel all facilities are completed, you can see Fuji Mt clearly. Both JPN & French food are wonderful.
There is a shuttle that goes to and fro from the nearby jetty every 20mins interval. Direct bus service to Gotemba and Shinjuku as well, but to Shinjuku only happens once everyday. There are others as well, please don't rely on Google maps for this place.

The garden was spectacular. The restaurant was exquisite.
Lovely lakeside location, hotel is clean and service was perfect. The premium breakfast was four courses and exceptional. We sat on the terrace and drank exquisite coffee while gazing at the lake. Wonderful stay!

Arrived late and missed the last shuttle bus at MotoHakone Ko (ard 1700). No choice but to walk abt 15-20 mins to hotel instead. The view was nice especially in a sunny day you can see the Mt. fuji from the hotel garden. Breakfast was ok. Onsen was ok with lesser ppl after 10 pm. For female there were two choices - one indoor and one outdoor.
It's a bit pricey but you get what you paid for. Great service, staff and room. Will definitely recommend.
I will probably not give it a try again. Cons. I booked 2 rooms. One for senior parents and the other for me with young kids. The moment i went into my room's toilet, it has a stench of urination. As we were too tired to make changes, we just stay in hoping it gets better the next day after room cleaning. But it still stays! Room ventilation is not working well with very slow reaction when i change from cold to warm or to air mode (i was there in end oct so weather can be warm or night be suddenly cold.) Overall looks old. Japanese breakfast is ok. Nothing to rave of. Western breakfast is not too bad. Pros. Onsen is pretty nice and roomy. Lighting is good and ventilation is good. I have been to quite a few and i will say this is good. If you want private onsen, i doubt they have it here. Staffs are helpful!
Food was sophisticated for us. Most of dishes , Not to our taste.. Rooms not as big as could be expected.
Location of this hotel is perfect for get away and relax. Staffs are very helpful and very polite. The beautiful park is magnificently kept. It s so close to Hakone shrine... just 5-10 mins walk from hotel ground. The high tea restaurant has beautiful view of the lake. The room is kept clean in old charm but would be great with brighter lighting, French breakfast was delicious. We wish to revisit again one day.
Hotel was okay, it's outdated. Location is great. Both the Japanese and French Restaurant was amazing but not very kid friendly.

The environment is so so so beautiful,air is fresh,greening is great.The hotel is on hill, a little far away from city, we must by bus go there and the nearest bus stop is a little far away from the hotel. We have to walk to the hotel. Food around the hotel is scarce. You could bring your own food.
We enjoyed this hotel tremendously. The only struggle was figuring out how to get to the actual hotel from the bus stop but we called and learned that there is a regular hotel shuttle from Motohakone-ko. The room was spacious and clean. The onsen was amazing, especially the outdoor one. We ate at the French restaurant for dinner and for breakfast the next morning; all food was delicious although a tad pricey. Breakfast was a better value than dinner in our opinion. We HIGHLY recommend you get a massage at the spa. That might have been the highlight of our stay there. So darn relaxing. If we go back to Hakone, we are likely to stay here again.
Hotel is situated a bit far from the main town area but is beautiful and clean. Got a good view of Mt Fuji from the garden in the morning.
We enjoyed our stay here for two days. The room is clean and well-maintained. The staff team is friendly and nice. Both of the Japanese restaurant and the French restaurant provide delicious food. The only drawback is the hotel allow boys below 10 years old to enter into the public bath for females. It was a big shock when I saw a boy in the bath. If you care as I do, please be aware of the rule.
Overall all regarding the Hotel and Staff is Superb. Just got some disturbing experienced from the Onsen. One guest sitting on the massage chair inside the area is using mobile phone. Phone should be prohibited inside the Onsen for security purposes. (if you know what i mean)
