relax”
What a nice experience!”
We added a stay here to our trip where the rest are just regular hotels. It was expensive compared to hotels, but it was an experience that we will never forget. We checked in and the staff helped us bring our luggages to our room. Not 10 minutes later a multi course dinner was served to our room! It included appetizers, sashimi, soup, wagyu beef and more! After dinner the staff came to set up our futons. They looked off putting at first, as it was just a thin mat on the floor with a giant fluffy comforter, but it was more comfortable than any other beds I have slept on! Before we went to bed, we checked out the onsen, and it was very relaxing and honestly, much needed after a full day of motorcycle riding to sightsee. The next morning when we woke up, we started packing and breakfast was served to our room! It was again another multi course meal and it was very nutritious and delicious. I would highly suggest everyone who are visiting Japan to give this a try!
Great Ryokan Experience”
I booked the superior room with sauna and private bath. When booking look at the room descriptions carefully to make sure you book the correct type of room if you want to have the private onsen as onsen in gender segregated unless you have a private one. The toilet and sauna was in the room but the private onsen was separate outside of the room that we had a key for and it was an outdoor onsen which added to the relaxing atmosphere of being in cool weather and soaking in hot water. The staff were so friendly and helpful. But keep in mind there are no elevators so you have to carry your luggage up and it could be a lot of stairs if you're on the top floor so keep that in mind if you have heavy bags. I recommend stashing big heavy suitcases in a locker at a train station and just bring what you need for your ryokan stay to make things easier on yourself. Watch out for the steps, they're not as deep so if you have slippery socks or long feet it might be hazardous with the house provided slippers (I just went with my socks). We opted to have breakfast and dinner in the ryokan and both were kasieki meals which were AMAZING!! So much food and all of it was sooooo delicious and beautifully presented. Meals also came with both sake and tea. We opted for traditional rooms so tatami floor, futons for sleeping, and low tables for eating. Everything I was looking forward to. Ryokan was well located, close enough to the main street but not so close that you'd hear all of the foot and car traffic. Would definitely stay again.
Relaxing stay”
We stayed at Onsen Yaeikan for 2 days. It was a short walk from the Hakone-Yumoto station. At check in, we were greeted and completed registration quickly before being shown to and given a tour of our room. The room was comfortable and we were very happy with the private onsen that was part of the room. (I recommend a private onsen if you have any tattoos.) Breakfast and dinner provided with the stay were excellent. It was served at the time we designated at check in, and we did not leave hungry. Exploring the Hakone area was very easy from this ryokan. Staff are very kind, and although they may not speak much English, they will do whatever they can to assist you. I would recommend staying here if you are looking to visit Hakone!
Eccezionale”
Beautiful traditional inn!! The staff was lovely and the accommodations were so nice! We stayed in the superior Mountain View room with the private onsen and it was perfect for a romantic night. Everything was pretty clean but it is a very old building so there are some things with a bit of dust or dirt but nothing crazy. The futons were very comfortable and the rooms were quiet. The area around is very sweet with little shops to visit and is only a short walk from the station through some beautiful scenes. The only issue we had, which is a personal issue I admit, is that I am vegitarian and my husband does not like fish- 90% of the dinner and breakfast is fish so just be prepared!! It was served in our room which was lovely although there was not much direction on what was what which also didn’t help. Would be very good for more adventurous eaters but be aware there is no vegetarian options. Overall would highly recommend the stay!!
