Fantastic Experience ”
The hotel is very modern and clean. Location near Hakone Open Air Museum. Staff were friendly and food was amazing. We only had breakfast but it was good. The guy served us breakfast spoke really well English as well as the girl who walked us to our room. I enjoyed everything when I stayed here. We checked out and left our luggage to go to the museum. When we came back, we were so out of breath from climbing up the hill to walk back. We went back to the hotel lobby and sat down to rest. Although we paid for the transportation for them to take us back to the nearest train station, we felt that the staff passive aggressive rushed us out towards the end. They weren’t as welcome as when we arrived. Other than that I like it here a lot.
Nice and relaxing stay”
The staffs were very helpful and friendly. We spent our whole day/night at the hotel because it was raining hard outside. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel and it was fantastic. I would only recommend the kaiseki dinner if you are into the earthy mushroom smell that was in a lot of the dishes. Otherwise, you should get the teppenyaki. The breakfast however was almost perfect, I would also recommend the japanese breakfast because it was light, tasted good and quality was there. I was here with my sister to celebrate my sister birthday and we had a good time relaxing at both the public and private onsen multiple time. I would definitely come back here again if I had more time in hakone.
Already planning our return!!”
Hakone Suishoen is a truly exceptional experience, especially for couples seeking a luxurious retreat. The food is phenomenal, offering flavors and presentation that feel like a culinary masterpiece. The “magic box” service is a standout feature, allowing seamless replenishment of amenities with utmost privacy—easily a 6-star touch. The attention to detail, tranquility, and thoughtful hospitality make it an unforgettable stay. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to indulge in an elegant escape.
Great place”
This Japanese ryokan provided a pristine environment with immaculate cleanliness throughout the premises. Moreover, the culinary offerings surpassed expectations, with exquisite Japanese cuisine served with meticulous attention to detail, leaving a lasting impression of culinary excellence. Overall, a highly recommended stay for those seeking both cleanliness and gastronomic delight in a traditional Japanese setting.
Luxury ryokan, first ryokan experience. Bad massage though. ”
Wasn’t sure what to expect since this was our first ryokan but we were blown away by the nice facilities and the professional staff who tailored the timing of everything so well (they had iPads and microphones they communicated with to let each other know when we were arrived at meal time and where to seat us, etc). We had a private onsen in our room with a water proof TV even! Not sure if I just happened to go during off times but I was able to enjoy the public onsen privately most of the time too (only one other guest). Plus they have a mini freezer ri got outside the public onsen with ice creams and popsicles as a bonus! The teppanyaki was amazing and worth the $110/person. The only critique I have is the massage I booked- having had only massages in the US, I didn’t realize they expect us to stay clothed and lay in our own room bed (so no face rest while laying on your front). This was all tolerable but then the masseuse they sent for me appeared to have exhertional/breathing issues (was short of breath just climbing the stairs), had a hand tremor and couldn’t provide the enough moderate pressure as requested and basically just used single finger point pressure. In short, he seemed past his prime and probably shouldn’t have been employed as a masseuse there. I was stunned. In short, I DONT recommend booking a massage there if you’re used to massages in the US as my experience with this was pretty disappointing. Otherwise the rest of my stay was phenomenal and i hence the still high rating I’m giving.
