“Peaceful retreat with exceptional hospitality ”

My partner and I stayed at Hakone Kyuan for one night during our travels from Tokyo to Osaka, and it was a wonderful experience. The ryokan was beautiful and peaceful, providing the perfect break in our journey. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. They helped us coordinate transportation to and from the nearest train station, which made everything smooth and stress-free. We especially appreciated the semi-open air onsen in our room. As westerners with tattoos, it gave us a private and relaxing way to enjoy the onsen experience. All the amenities we needed were included in the booking price, making our stay even more enjoyable. We had a fantastic time and would absolutely love to stay at Ryokan Kyuan again!

“Fantastic stay and very helpful staff!”

Thanks to the staff here for providing such an easy and fuss free stay. The food was amazing and sometimes I wonder if I paid for the food while the hotel stay came free. The staff was also nice enough to drive us to the nearest bus stop to catch the bus so we would be on time for our next train to Tokyo Fantastic service, food and experience!

“Sink into the softest bed, wake to the mountains”

After a long travel day, we embraced our delightfully furnished home away, sank into the steaming Onsen, wrapped in our yakuta, were served a special dinner, and the glories in the deep softness of our bed. Thank you!!

“Great, unique experience ”

We stayed in the twin beds with Extra twin room in early August 2023 and had a wonderful experience at Ryokan Kyuan. Great room, mountain view, amazing onsen, really great staff, and fabulous food! Cannot rave about our experience enough. Hope to be back next time we visit Hakone!

Extremely attentive staff. Private onsen was amazing!! There's a road just below the room so there's car noise, but not too many cars. Food was excellent!

Have never thought of such a high quality residence before booking. Super nice staff with humble and sincere attitude !! The room was just amazing !! The food was the best I have ever tried. Will definitely choose the same place if I have a chance to go to Hakone again!!!!

“Was expecting a luxury retreat ”

The staff are exceptional and the food was ok I guess. However the room was not was not what I was expecting. The furniture was all clearly ancient with scratches and even cigarette burns on the lounge chair the AC for the room was a portable unit that was quite loud and the beds might as well have been cement. Only saving grace was the personal onsen bath. The location is only reachable by either a steep hike or car and is very inconvenient. However the staff do offer a very nice ferry service that I used multiple times. Overall I didn't enjoy my stay here and was expecting significantly more for such a ludicrous price tag.

From the moment you arrive you are treated to a calm and inviting ambiance. The hillside location is peaceful to enjoy your personal onsen. The Kaiseki food was amazing and the staff were lovely. The room was spacious with space to unwind. They kindly drove us to the nearby station on checkout, which was very helpful!

And amazing experience here where you're treated like the most important guest there. The food was the best we've had in Japan and the room with its own onsen was the best we could've asked for.

The hotel is situated in the middle of the mountain, which could not be easily accessed by walk from train station. Limited public transport. However, a 7-seat shuttle car is available from hotel to nearby train stations at the guest's request to mitigate somewhat the inconvenience.

Overall is very good, staffs are very helpful and super friendly. Breakfast and Dinner are very delicious and well prepare. Only thing that annoy is the entrance. There's no sign, no light or anything that will tell you that the hotel is there...

“Amazing experience!”

I visiting the ryokan for a honeymoon getaway. Everything exceeded our expectations. The service was phenomenal, and made us feel like we were the only people there. The staff working during our stay spoke a bit of English. If you don’t speak any Japanese, the Google Translate app works great. The breakfast and dinner meals were all exquisite and left us full. Note, we love traditional Japanese food. (If you’re not familiar, I would definitely Google “kaiseki meals” and “traditional Japanese breakfast” to set your expectations.) And the Japanese rooms and en-suite ofuro baths looking out to nature were wonderful. I hope to return soon!

“Relax and Retreat in Japanese Style”

The location is good with a mountain view at the balcony. The foods ; dinner and breakfast was nice although we cannot choose and never knew what will be served to us. The staff in the hotel was nice and full of service mind, but the woman (kind of young age with big eye and short hair at her shoulder level) who took us to the room did not guide and tell us the information much enough, looked like she was tired or lazy or something. She had a fake smile to us ( everyone in our family can see and touch it clearly). however this is kind of calm and cozy to stay in real Japanese style room around Hakone. However, in my thought, it was too expensive than our imagination and the service from this woman made us upset a little until we don't think it's worth our money.

Such an amazing experience! Everything is perfect: clean and comfortable room, warm and considerate service, various delicious and well-decorated food for dinner and breakfast, personal hot spring in room! Strongly recommend!

“Perfect for people with food allergies/vegans/vegetarians”

We stayed in this ryokan for 2 days at the beginning of November in one of their Japanese western style rooms. The bath and the balcony had an exceptional view of the mountains. The rooms are very traditional Japanese. You can smell the tatami mats the moment you walk in. The highlight though for this ryokan is the food and willingness to adjust for you. The more famous and larger ryokans rarely accommodate requests for special meals. While trying to find accommodation who could cook vegetarian meals for us I found many of that bigger establishments simply write on their websites that they do not accommodate special dietary requests. But not this ryokan. They prepared delicious vegetarian meals for us on both days. Each meal was excellent and to be honest too much for us. If you are a vegan/vegetarian I would highly recommend this ryokan just based on food alone. For the room, I suggest you book the one with mountain view. The view is worth the price.

“Wonderful experience!”

We absolutely loved staying at this wonderful inn! The service was truly incredible! Would highly recommend having both dinner and breakfast here as well - the meals were exquisite and we ate in a private dining room each time. The inn is walking distance from the Open Air Museum (a little over 20 minutes away), which was incredible. Love that the hot spring bath is in the room itself instead of public - that was a huge draw for us. In terms of transportation, there is a bus that you can take from Odawara (major train station), which drops you off right next to the inn (though you have to walk around the corner on an incline, for those with heavy bags). Will be dreaming about this perfect place!

“Experience was great but the price was expensive.. maybe due to the peak season of sakura season.”

Location was quite remote and cant find any other shops nearby But service was great and the sunrise from our room was stunning.. It was a quiet neighbourhood to just rest and relax

“Eccezionale”

This ryokan is a traditional but modern place with all wonderful features of the Japanese style accomodation plus up-to-date toilet, airconditioner, great toiletries, wi-fi etc. The highlight of this ryokan is a private bath tube in the room: we had a round one, with the size enough to accomodate the two of us, so we could enjoy hot spring water bath whenever we wanted! Another great thing was the service: the staff was extremely helpful, their English was enough to communicate whatever we nad to ask. We are very grateful for the lovely manner and high standarts of dining service provided by the staff: traditional cuisine and explanations about the dishes were fantastic! Our thank you to the chef! The location is great: our room and the dining room looked at the mountains, and the bath room had the same mountain view. It was easy to drive around, close to everything, although we chose to use a rental car, not the buses. Definitely recommend the ryokan to anyone!

Once in a lifetime experience. Being pampered to the max w private onsen and the sumptuous dinner and breakfast. There are good surprises that I never expect coming. Thank you very much Nakajima-San and Kaori-San for making our stay such a memorable one.

“A Slice of Heaven in the Mountains!”

It was our first time to Hakone and Ryokan Kyuan did not disappoint us. Conveniently located on the main road up to the peak(its five minutes to the top by car where you can catch an amazing view of Mt Fuji as well as view the volcanic vents that feed the springs). The staff were friendly and helpful and we had no problems communicating with them in English. Though we drove, they do have a car to pick up guests from Hakone Station down in the town. We opted for the Japanese style room. It was spacious, with a waiting jug of fruit tea in the fridge and all the toiletries you'd need. The private bath on the balcony was awesome...the perfect thing to relax you after a long drive(Make sure you shower and clean yourself before climbing in). The view of the mountains was breathtaking and there's a little light show on the opposite peak at night as a surprise. The dinner was excellent, a real sumptuous spread of japanese cuisine that won't disappoint. Breakfast was just as good, the butter shark fin soup was delicious! A wonderful experience! Will definitely be back again!

El sitio es bonito, naturaleza y arquitectura japonesa; la cocina la comparo con el resto de viaje en Japón y no puedo destacarla como valor añadido; no se puede cobrar este precio y no ofrecer consejos, recomendaciones de rutas y caminatas, mayor flexibilidad en la oferta gastronómica, una carta de bebidas a la altura del precio por noche y lo más importante, las camas son separadas, colchón blanco y al AA es imposible de regular, o te asas o te congelas. Conclusión: este sitio NO vale la pena.

想享受privacy的話，這是不錯的選擇。用餐與風呂都在房間內，可以全程足不出戶。服務細心，我們的服務員小姐笑容親切，會主動提出幫客人拍照。到旅館與離開去車站都有專車接送，雖說這是這個價位的旅館必備的服務，但對於不是自駕遊的旅客真的很重要。 看網上對食物評價好壞都有，個人覺得算很不錯。尤其晚餐吃不完的和牛飯，他們會安排造成牛肉飯團給你留作宵晚，相當周到。還有剛到旅館的歡迎飲料是由你自己選擇的，可以選酒精飲品啊！ 整體而言是滿意的，是可以好好令人放鬆心情的旅館。

“世外桃源的溫泉旅館”

環境舒適乾淨，服務態度非常好，懷石料理精緻，每一道菜式服務也會講解用料及日語讀法，也細心解釋杯上圖案由來典故；房間面積雖然不大但非常舒適，唯一美中不足就是交通問題，但旅館也有接駁巴士服務可以彌補不足。

1. 交通：建议包车或自驾，如果选择公共交通，路程会比较波折。 2.入住环节：到达门口时就能看到一位店员在门口，核对信息并指引进入住处，店长（应该是）也过来非常礼貌且亲切的与我们打招呼，并进行简单介绍。办理入住后店员会陪同进入房间，详细介绍每一个功能区的使用，我们惊喜的发现汤泉水已经放好了； 3.饮食：晚餐为怀石料理，很新鲜的体验。每天的菜品可能都会基于食材的差异有所不同，吃完一道菜后，店员会进来换下一道，早餐相对中规中矩。独立的空间用餐，私密性好。 4. 服务：所有的人都非常礼貌且会主动保持一定的边界感，对于i人极度友好。check out的时候，店长主动问我们下一站行程，得知就在附近后，直接带我们驱车前往，并且在到达后还告知我们，逛完如果需要离开，可以乘坐的公交站点的方向，真的非常感谢。

很幸运多家比较后选择了这个酒店，通过邮件确定了饮食的要求和到达的时间，酒店回复邮件很及时，我们到达雕刻之森站时酒店已经早早安排人等候，酒店环境非常好，干净整洁，服务热情，特别是晚餐怀石料理和日式早餐都非常精美好吃，以后再来箱根还会选择弓庵。

店员很热情 入住体验很好！ 每个房间都有私汤 但是只有这一个 所以家庭一起不能泡温泉 要分开泡 早晚餐的料理很高级 周围非常安静！休息的很好 温泉很棒 泡完疲劳都没有了 早上开窗通风 外面空气真的很好很好很好 因为在山里。 不过地方有点难找 前不着村 后不着店的感觉 入住是下午三点可以办理 所以不要提前去 。我这次提前了 结果去吃午饭的路上花了20分钟走路。不过午餐很惊艳 一家荞麦面 很高级很高级 价格还可以 大概要3千日元左右 也很好吃。最后小姐姐还开车送我们到车站。总体来说确实值得这个分数！ 很棒！

在箱根雕刻之森bus stop可以提供shuttle service，很方便。有一位台湾小姐姐会中文，交流也不是问题。房内私汤、日式装潢，以及晚餐、早餐，总体都非常不错，让人印象深刻，服务态度也没得挑。只可惜晚上泡汤时，浴室出现一只蟑螂，有些惊吓，可这也没办法，毕竟地理位置特殊。第二天离开，一位日本小哥哥还开车送我们到了公交站。总体来说非常棒，难忘的一次日式食宿体验！

如果你的预算足够，想体验真正箱根日式风情和日本料理，这家真的是一个很不错的选择。非常让人享受。宁静的房屋，无所不在的日式服务，屋外的山景，感觉你真的置身在没有那么多事情干扰的环境之内，内心无比舒适，房间自带私汤，真心让人惬意，难忘。。除了价格小贵，都是满满的回忆。只会激励你朝更好地生活进发……
