New Furano Prince is a ski resort so it is situated at the base of a mountain with ski lifts for accessibility. Do expect a longer drive to reach this hotel coming from Asahikawa via Biei. Nevertheless, this hotel is in close proximity to farmlands so Furano melons, cheese, ice-creams, winery and boutique restaurants are nearby. Room size is a tad compact for 3 full-grown adults but the huge hotel grounds, openness and tranquility makes for a relaxed stay. Hotel houses its own bakery, breakfast served at main hall is of both Western and Japanese. There is a bar and both Italian and traditional Japanese restaurants on the top floor with sweeping views! Ningle terrace (shop in the woods) is a must visit, next to the big open-carpark of the hotel. Parking is complimentary.

Everything is top notch in this hotel. It's not a big hotel, but there's a sense of warmth and welcoming feeling the moment we entered the hotel lobby. The lobby decor was tastefully done, with some displays of books (about furano and other stuff) and their spa products (and there's also a piano) :) We had one double and one twin rooms, but I think the twin room was actually slightly bigger than the double room. The space in the rooms was fully utilised, but not cluttered looking. The basin was just outside the bathroom, which in my opinion was great. Cuz you could still get on with your business if someone was occupying the bathroom :) Another thing I would rave about, would be the breakfast they served. I simply love every bit of the western breakfast! You would need to choose the type of breakfast you want during your stay (Japanese or western). The serving portion is definitely more than enough to kick start your day of skiing/snow activity. They even gave their guests drinks coupons so they could redeem hot tea or juice when they returned to the hotel. The hotel staff even gave us some free coupons for the bus trips (not sure if they do it regularly or only seasonal) when we needed transportation to the mountain. As we were traveling in a small group, therefore sharing a cab wasn't an issue. There're a couple of restaurants just behind the hotel. It's great to have a few friends gathering around for some BBQ food and beers!! :) Although this hotel might cost a bit more than some of the other ski hotels (or inns/ ryokans), but one great plus point is the close proximity to the train station, which is just across the road.

"3 star price with a 5 star service and facility" As you see my profile history i dont usually wrote much about hotel review, but I feel i need to do at least this much to share with you about Hotel Naturwald. I visited Furano on 23rd March - 31st March. There are 2 ski zone in Furano which is "Kitanomine zone" and "Furano zone" which were about 5mins drive between one another . My friend reccomended this as this is just right in front of Kitanomine ski chairlift, and to my dissapointment when i reach i found out that Kitanomine zone is closed for the season, i have no idea why because the weather is still amazing during my whole trip and its snowing on daily basis . Well anyway upon checking in "Kita-san" the manager there greeted me and told me that there is a FREE shuttle bus provided from the hotel to Furano Zone up to 5 different timing daily , start as early as 8.30am ( chairlift and gondola starts at 9am and ends at 4pm during my visit ) and there you go, my problem is all solved, what a delightful news it was to me and thats just a start of all my memorable experience there . Well anyway to make it easy for you readers, i'll break it down in different category . DIRECTION "If you're arriving from New Chitose International Terminal, proceed to 2F (second floor) on the left hand side there's a whole counter of different bus company that will bring you to all places you want to go, to niseko, sapporo town, rusutus,kiroro etc . Find "Hokkaido Resort Liner" counter there and book your preffered time slot, i took the 5.50pm timing that time as my flight reached about 3.30pm, please always give yourself 60min at least due to unexpected long wait on luggage claim and immigration clearance. It was a pleasant surprise that I found this hotel. Had planned a last minute trip to Hokkaido for skiing and decided on Furano because Niseko is all full. To be right at the ski resort, you should take Prince Hotel or New Prince Hotel. Undoubtedly expensive but its very convenient. You literally walk out of your room and you go ski. Stop anytime you want, come back anytime you want. But they were fully booked. I found the next best thing -Edel Warme. They provide a shuttle bus from the hotel to the ski resort daily. But the timing is not frequent yet it is very reasonable. Check with the hotel about this. There is a direct airport express to the hotel available that cost 4000 yen per pax one way. The whole journey from Chitose airport is about 3 hours but it beats all other ways of transport. There are shops outside the hotel but getting to city centre, you need a taxi. The staff is friendly and polite but they simply can't speak English well (some almost zero!)

This hotel is perched on top of a hill, overlooking a vast lavender farm (covered in snow during winter). The onsen (multiple indoor & outdoor) is huge with sauna. The onsen is very popular with locals (ticket machine), keeping the onsen really busy ... limited number of Japanese room accommodation. We did not order meals because it was an easy drive down to Furano town, where there are lots of eateries options. The Furano locality map with lists of eateries and attractions is really handy. Search Yelp for great food recommendations - curry, ramen, soba!
