Good stay for a weekend in Tainan”

On my first visit to Tainan wanted to book something close to main station. This is not the HSR station but that one is far from downtown. The hotel gave a feeling to me of a place that must have been very popular in the 80s. Although feels a bit old style, everything is adequate and clean. Staff was very courteous. They speak English too. There's an interesting and unexpected perk: hotel offers a late evening "snack", consisting of a very simple buffet with few items available in the hotel's cafeteria. I wonder if this was unique to the hotel or customary in Tainan yet it was a pleasant surprise. Have enjoyed my stay and would recommend to others.

Very comfortable hotel in good location”

As a solo traveller, I found this hotel in a very convenient location, quiet, clean and comfortable. The room was large, had plenty of power points and internet access in the room. I appreciate it when hotels have the mini clothes-line in the bathroom, as Tainan Hotel has. Staff were very, very helpful, despite minimal English. Breakfast, included in the price, would suit most tastes and there was plenty provided. I also had the buffet dinner, which was excellent, though perhaps a little expensive by Taiwanese standards. However, this hotel provides excellent and safe accommodation at a very reasonable price.

Very centrally located”

It was very centrally located, directly opposite the train station at the roundabout, and bus stops right outside the hotel leading to major attractions within Tainan city. The availability of barrier free access to cross the street from the train station makes reaching and leaving the hotel with large luggages easy and stress free. Daily breakfast was a joy to have with the wide variety and wholesome spread. Our room was spacious and clean. Very comfortable stay.

No wifi!”

Tainan Hotel is a four star hotel.In many aspects it's living up to those expectations. The reception staff are working very good. Always trying to help you. Some of them though don't speak English, but that's really not a problem since there are always someone else to help you. The breakfast buffet has a standard variety of Asian and Western dishes. Unfortunately they didn't succeed in keeping the food warm. So, if you like room-temperature hot dishes it is ok. The croisssants they kept in a warm box to keep them warm and fresh. The problem is that the bread was in there too long time so it was so dry, some days uneatable! The restaurant served a buffet dinner, which we didn't try, but seemed very popular among the locals. The restaurant was full every night which is a good sign. The room was good. Spacey with a desk and a small table with an armchair. Funny enough there was no safe in the room! So you have to keep your valuables at the frontoffice. And you didn't go there everyday with your laptop and your iPad. But, if you have to use your computer and wifi: forget this hotel They claim that they have wifi but 98 % of the time it just didn't work! We were lucky to get into another persons wifi (an open one!) in some evenings. I can't understand why a hotel in the year of 2013 can't have a working wifi! And this is a hotel that caters to business travelers! Our room was even called business room! The location of the hotel was great. That is their rescue. Two blocks away from the train station. The citybuses (with the touristic lines 88 and 99) just outside the hotel.

Hotel with large clean room near Tainan Train Station.”

The hotel is very close to Tainan train station. Even though, the hotel is old, room was large and clean. My room was facing the courtyard and suprisingly quiet. Breakfast was excellant. Front desk staff were fluent in English as well as in Japanese. I recommend Tainan Hotel for those looking for good clean comfortable hotel near Tainan trainstation.

Best location in center of Tainan city”

i stayed at this hotel with my parents during my business trip. The location was excellent, in front of Tainan Station (city train). So many shops around hotel. i can do my business without worrying about my parents. As a moslem, this hotel quite moslem friendly. they do not provide halal meal, but they separate vegetarian corner. Mosque is only 10 minutes walk from Hotel. Is very easy to find Halal Restaurant around Hotel. Most of them are Indonesian Restaurant.

Excellent, excellent, excellent !!”

This year is the hotel's 50th anniversary, and I can see why it has lasted for 50 years. Beautiful 4 Star hotel, with excellent clean rooms, great food, excellent access to downtown Tainan and sightseeing and shopping, the staff is fantastic.... what a great place to spend a vacation. The people of Taiwan, and especially Tainan are fantastic !!

Historic Hotel known for their food and location”

Ask any local folks in Tainan, they'll tell you the Tainan Hotel is probably one of the best known hotels. They have been around for decades, and used to be known for their banquets and meals. We stayed at the deluxe room, which is about twice the size of a regular room. It had a full-sized couch at the sitting area. As much upgrade as they did for their rooms, one can still tell the hotel is getting old, especially in the halls. The rooms are nice though. The breakfast is little below average in light of what they are known for, and the price for their rooms. I've stayed at less expensive places where their breakfast is just as good, if not better. If location is important to you, this is the place to stay. It is a 3-minute walk from Tainan train station.

Excellent”

Even though the Hotel was build sometime back, the management had done a great job updating the facilities. Even the anti slip mat which we will place it inside the bath tub is clean. When u turn on the tap for hot water, it will flow out of the tap within seconds . All staff including the room maintenance team at the hotel I encountered is very polite. Definitely a great hotel to stay if you are visiting Tainan. Furthermore the Hotel is walking distance from the main train station. Highly recommended.

Nice hotel, great location but no wifi facility”

Tainan Hotel location is just 100m away from the Tainan Railway station. The service level is impressive. They took my money for a COD order which I cannot be present to pay. The parcel was duly accepted with no issue. The negative part is that there is no wifi facility although an internet cable is available in the room Thus, I cannot use my IPad and had to resort to tap free wifi from other sources outside the hotel.

A good value for money”

I arrived in Tainan at 1pm, and the hotel offered me an early check in for free. Although the room is very clean, there is a strong smell of old building. Customers can also enjoy a free supper at 10pm. The location is extraordinary !!!! Only 100 metres from Tainan Station!!!!!!!

Excellent”

Room rate for a standard twin bed room is very reasonable. Conveniently located in the downtown, nearest the Tainan Train Station and the bus stations. Rooms are clean and quiet. Breakfast buffet is rich and of varieties. Hotel staff are courteous. Take taxis to Tainan Airport is around 15 mins and around NTD200. For sure, will stay in this hotel next time.

Friendly service with excellent room ”

the location of the hotel is ideal for tourists. it is very convenient for the rail station and most of the main tourist attractions in tainan. the hotel was very clean and the service was very friendly and helpful. the breakfast was most enjoyable whether one prefers western style or chinese style breakfast. the choice was impressive

Very near the Tainan Railway Station”

The hotel is very near the Tainan Railway Station and you can just go to the hotel within 5 minutes from the railway station if you are coming from railway from other parts in Taiwan. Moreover, the main bus station is at the hotel downstairs and you can go to other parts of Tainan easily. If you wish to save time, you can also easily catch a taxi as it is near the railway station. There are many good things to eat near the hotel.

Great location, value for money”

The hotel is located near Tainan Train station. The room is spacious and clean, but is dated and in need for upgrade, currently at 3 stars quality. However, the breakfast is excellent, better than many 5 stars hotel. Staff is friendly and helpful. Great place to stay.

Exceptional Service!!! Coupled with excellent location... unbeatable”

Despite it being an old hotel, everything is very functional. The location is really just a stone away from the Tainan Railway station. The exceptional part is the subtle but dedicated service of the staff. The housekeeping staff took the initiative to put a dehumidifier in our room when they found us hanging a few pieces of damp clothing there! What else can we say? This is really service from the heart! Can't beat the 人情味!

Comfortable, good location”

I enjoyed our stay in Hotel Tainan. The building is older and not ideally ventilated, so cigarette smoke does carry into nonsmoking rooms on occasion. The wifi was nonexistent. BUT, the location is great, right next to the train station and close to shopping and great street food. Breakfast provided a good selection of comfort foods from my childhood. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again.

Good location ”

Just across Tainan railway station and about 30 mins from Tainan HSR station. You will need to change to a local train from Shalun station (which is next to HSR) to Tainan Railway station which cost NT25. Breakfast was a decent spread

Fantastic location but not cheap”

location is fantastic, just a 5-min walk from the exit of tainan railway station. moreover, at the side of the hotel are buses 88 and 99 that take you to places of interest such as anping at about us$1. thus, i would consider it very convenient. breakfast was good with a wide spread of western and taiwanese food. bedrooms are small but clean. hotel staff is friendly and helpful. however, as compared to other hotels of the same standard, i would think the price of this hotel is a little too high.
