Had a nice day in a large, 50m2 family room. The hotel location was very convenient and close to everything. Convenience store and supermarket within 100m. The room had 2 toilets, which was wonderful. My wife and daughter enjoyed the hotel pajamas & slippers. Beds were very firm. Car parking was ¥2,000 per night of stay via the parking elevator (very slow retrieving the car). But, reasonable price, I think. The bathtub was poorly designed so we ended up with a lot of water on the floor after showering - couldn’t be helped. Also, the hotel required a rather expensive fee to use the Onsen. Otherwise, a great stay. Would certainly recommend this hotel (and this particular room) to families.

I have been using this hotel more than ten years and almost everything is still very clean like new one including bathroom. The location is best to explore downtown Kyoto. It is very close to Hei-an Jingu Shrine, Gion, Yasaka Jinja, etc. etc. most popular places in Kyoto. Shopping areas are in five minutes walk. Breakfast is very nice, too if you include it.

The staffs there are very nice!!! I lost my wallet in subway, and I asked the staff in the hotel to help me to call the bus office, and then my wallet was found soon! The staff there helped me so much, and has so much patience to try his best to help me. I’m grateful to 京都蒙特婁飯店, it provides a good experience to me staying here.

A western-interior-designed hotel. Comfy room with warm air circulation which is very nice after a long day out and it was cold outside. It's 10-15 mins walkable distance to the shopping street where Nishiki Market is . There are authentic Japanese restaurants around the sideroad nearby the hotel.

Affordable luxury”
First time to stay at Hotel Monterey and I was not disappointed. I specifically like that it has a spa/onsen (at a price) and chapel. Location is near Kyoto and there are lots of places to see within the vicinity. Will definitely stay here again.

A beautiful hotel with a serene surrounding ”
The hotel is situated in a serene surrounding. It’s about 40 minutes by bus from Odawara and there’s a bus stop right outside the hotel. The service is excellent with friendly staff. The hotel serves beautifully prepared western and japanese breakfast. I particularly love the warm breads and croissants served for the western breakfast. The room is spacious and the onsen has indoor and outdoor hot baths which are nicely set up. I would definitely consider coming back to the hotel for a relaxing time and exploring the beautiful country side of Hakone.

Great value for money in central Kyoto”
Only a short walk from Nishiki Market and the whole central shopping district, this hotel was great for exploring the city without having to rely on buses to get us around. We had a lovely time there and the Sento (spa) on the top floor is very nice and clean. I'll be making this my regular hotel whenever I visit Kyoto.

Boutique Hôtel, Great Location”
Decorated a little like a European chateau, with a delightfully bijou wedding chapel where free concerts are staged when not in use for a wedding, this is a unique hotel. The location is perfect - in the centre of Kyoto, just around the corner from some wonderful temples, craft shops, and a marvellous old arcade; yet not obviously one of the more touristy areas.

Everything is good.... except...”

The hotel needs upgrading ”
We had to move room upon arrival the room..not impressed the carpet in patches furniture scratched and very tired. Hotel is in a breast location but desperately needs upgrading. Even the other hotel room we were transferred needs upgrading. It's a shame because in a good location but definitely not a four star property.

Dirty glasses, sheets, charge for public bath”
Room is slightly larger than a business hotel, full sized bath, good location - but dirty glasses and sheets in the room, reception staff didn’t bother to let us know we need to get toothbrush etc at reception because there’s none in the room - and for the first time in twenty years staying at Japanese hotels, I was informed that using the public bath costs money (a lot of money actually) - someone needs to tell the owners that it takes a bit more than a fancy building and lobby to make a 4 star hotel.

Good location, 3mins to Karasuma-Oike Station”
we stayed at hotel monterey kyoto,twins room,roome size is big enough for two of us. the hotel is only 3 mins walk to kawaramachi-oike station, and 15 mins walk to shijyo-kawaramachi crossroads. starbucks is just next to the hotel. location is just in center of everywhere. we found also free wifi signal available in guest room. clerks speak fluent english.
