Jakarta hotels & places to stay

I used to live in Jakarta and so am quite familiar with most of the "international" (meaning Hyatt, Sheraton, Mandarin, Shangrila, etc.; mostly five star) as well as "near international" (meaning Aryaduta, Borobudur, Century Park, etc.) hotels. This hotel is located in Senayan right next to the Jakarta stadium (Gelora Bung Karno), and is well located on the South side of Jakarta. The guests are upscale, mostly Indonesian, although it is a funny mix of sports teams staying there during competitions (hence its full Indonesian name Atlet Century Park Senayan) and people visiting nearby ministries (particularly the ministry of education), plus business people. The rack rates seem high, but they have lower corporate rates and they also discount regularly via services like Agoda, at which point the prices are reasonable. If you are a business person looking for an acceptable but relatively inexpensive hotel, the Century Park is fine, and if you are the kind of business traveller who wants to exercise/run it is probably a good place to go because of the sports complex literally across the street. It has acceptable food in terms of a café, but if you want expensive hotel restaurants and the like you might do better at someplace like the Mandarin or Hyatt. But the most important aspect of any hotel in Jakarta is location because of the traffic, so this hotel is good for meetings from the Central Business District around the Stock Exchange down to South Jakarta. It is also cheap enough for families, if you look for the online discounted room, etc. I will stay there again.

This is my 4th time stay at the same hotel and I know there will be many more times here. Still my fav choice hotel in Jakarta. Location is super. No traffic jam to and fro airport to hotel. Its linked to a huge mall with tonnes of places to eat and shop. The mall has everything. I dont need to go anywhere else. Rooms are so clean and well maintained. Loved the range of toiletries too. Love the decor in the rooms and everywhere in the hotel. Wonderful scent in the hotel lobby as you enter making you want to know what is that scent! Staff are very friendly from airport pick up deiver front desk Housekeeping room service and even the chef at buffet breakfast. Everyone are simply nice. Food - we ordered room service, though pricey but taste good. Buffet breakfast was good too but if you have to pay per head can be pricey. Anyway we will be back for sure since they are still the best among the many hotels in Jakarta that I have tried. Thanks Pullman!

Rooms are a bit small, and bathroom even smaller, but this has to be the greatest boutique hotel in Jakarta - you get 5-star service and comfort in a small package. Popular among locals for weddings, and really interesting to see guests in their traditional Javanese attire. Lots of dining choices, and it's the type of location where a foreigner can enjoy walking around and being in a relatively quiet and cosy part of Jakarta.

I've stayed twice at Atotel. When I was looking for hotels I came across this hotel, hmm.. Interesting concept. I booked & I have not regretted choosing Artotel. When I entered Artotel I was like WOW! The smell was so fresh & nice. I luv the deco. I myself luv arts. I think it's really great they came up with this getting few artist to paint in the rooms..thruout the hotel. I was telling myself I wished Malaysia had something like this. The food.. I had breakfast & it wasn't that great. I think they need to improve. I ordered the room service chicken wings...that was nice. There are times I'm sure some guest who are so tired would like to stay in their room, order room service, relax... Laundry..I snd my white blouse & few others for a wash.. My white blouse came back in light baby blue color & it wasn't iron properly & same as the rest too... I told d staff about it & they apologise.. Most hotels I've stayed when I ask for iron they give me the usual normal iron but at Artotel it's steam iron. I prefer steam iron as it's easier for me. At Artotel they think of everything they could to make it easier for their guest. In Indonesia their plug is different than Malaysia or in England so they made sure they had that install so the guest don't really need to buy an adapter. You can't expect everything to be perfect at all the hotels, even at a 5 or 6 star hotels you get some faulty too. Sometime things do happen. Besides that I really do like Artotel. It's one of my favourite hotel in Jakarta. I would definitely stay at Artotel again & I highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Harris Vertu hotel is something that outshines all the other hotels in the area. Located in Central Jakarta this hotel makes it easy to get to national landmarks like the Monas, Nayional Musuem and gallery and the Central Park area. Me and my partner arrived late to check out after so km e difficulties at the airport and Harris Hotel booked out the last standard room already and gave us a free upgrade without any issues at all. We collapsed as soon as we got to the room and the bed is incredibly comfortable and inviting. The room although small in size felt really big in actually because our room was situated in the corner of the hotel where we had two big windows to look out too thr city every morning and evening. We Not make much of the pool and other facilities such as pool and the spa was booked the last day we tried to use it. We went out during our 4 night stay so it was Not a big deal. I do have some smalls cons to point out. Bathroom: Sliding doorway and mirror is one and is behind the sink which Made it difficult to See full body in mirror. Dine in room service: of the few times we Did order room serverice they only got it half right. I think this is a miscommunication issue because we had to repeat our order several time. I think some of the staff have limited English capabilities. Also there are no vegetarian options on their menu you have to call to order/amend the menu which was frustrating at times because of miscommunication. Location: although it is close to many national landmarks it is not that close to many restaurants. Pros: Dine in Service: they were still open to accommodate to my vegetarian needs. Location: Close to grand indonesia mall and landmarks. I would glady stay at Harris Vertu again if I am in Jakarta and recommend others to do so.

My wife and I enjoyed the stay in this hotel since the newly renovated room is very nice. We thought the room's price is really worth it once we got into the room. The location of the hotel in downtown of Jakarta is also contributed to the satisfaction we got from the hotel. We would recommend people to stay at Nikko Jakarta Hotel even just for fun since you can just go across the street to find one of the largest mall in Jakarta which is Plaza Indonesia. Breakfast was one of the strong points of the hotel, varieties of food were served.

HARRIS Hotel and Conventions Kelapa Gading has always been my first choice when choosing a hotel in Jakarta. They have fun and friendly staffs that never stop smiling and the speed of checking in and out is extremely fast. The hotel offers clean, bright, large bedroom and of course fast-internet speed, both lan and wifi. The hotel is located next to a shopping mall, therefore looking for food and shopping is not an issue. After a long day out eating, and you are looking for a place to shred away those calories and sweat it off, do drop by the hotel gym. The hotel has a well-equip gym, sauna and swimming pool that opens until 2200hrs. During my stay with HARRIS Hotel, I was given a birthday gift, a birthday card and a birthday cake. I am impress with the CRM program of HARRIS Hotel and I would strongly recommend my friends to stay in HARRIS Hotel when they visit Jakarta.

Before I booked the room, there's a lil confusion about the pricing. at night I checked and when i want to book at the following morning, the price sudden rise for twice from original. But I email the hotel an later the price changed back. I stayed in 2 bedroom Premiere and like it! The room is spacious, they hv 2 bathroom and well-equipped kitchen. We had a comfortable sitting area and dining area. And the room also has a beautiful Jakarta's skyscraper view. The location also good, in the main road of the center of Jakarta. by walking distance, you can find yourself a McD, nice coffee shop, more food options and the 24-hours DimSum.Inc and LuckyCat Cafe. Transportation option also very nice, there's a TransJakarta bus station within 5 min-walk. Easily located for conventional and online taxi. And even there's a direct airport bus from Epicentrum mall, within 15 min-walk from the hotel. For me, this is one of the best option if you want to have an apartment-facility-hotel in Jakarta.

The hotel is a modified apartment with the lift access directly going into the apartment. They gave me the 2BR unit and they were huge. The pool is the largest I have been to in any hotel in Jakarta and the gym facilities are fantastic too. Location is a bit off the main road but still around central Jakarta. Would definitely consider it as one of my favorite hotels in the area.

It was the first time that The Husband and I travelled to Jakarta free and easy, without the help of guides. We were pleasantly surprised to discover the close proximity this hotel is to major shopping belts. To the left would be Thamrin City and to the right would be Grand Indonesia Shopping Town. Upon arrival at the airport, their airport transfer staff was there to bring us to the hotel. Upon registration, we were allowed to check-in immediately, even though it was only 11am and official check-in time wasn't until 2pm. Needless to say, we kept ourselves fully occupied with lots of shopping at the malls within that area. Dining choices were plenty. From Restoran Sederhana across from Thamrin City that sold delicious padang food, to foodcourts in Thamrin City for refresher meals in between shopping. Dinner would be a more relaxed affair over at Grand Indonesia Shopping Town. Again, spoilt for choice because they had more than 4 floors of food outlets accumulatively. From high end restaurants to foodcourts to suit your budget. Each time we returned to the hotel, we were greeted by warm smiles. On our last day, our scheduled pickup to the airport was at 230pm. We check with this staff if this meant we had to check-out at 12pm like with most hotels and leave our bags at the lobby while we spend the time away until 230pm, but they were nice enough to say that the room would be ours until the scheduled pick-up time. So Ascott Jakarta, we will be back. With friends and family in tow :)

This grand old lady is an old favourite- having gone through some difficult and neglected times in the period 1999 to 2012. We spent a very pleasant week in this "home away from home" last month. The staff were fabulous - warm and friendly and at the same time totally professional. Breakfast was outstanding. If you are up on a Sunday morning, make sure you join the vehicle free walk on Sudirman - a fantastic community event. The MRT stop couldn't be closer making the Sahid one of the most accessible hotels in Jakarta! (Hasn't Jakarta changed for the better in the last 5 years - cleaner and less traffic problems!)

This is one of the three hotels that I prefer for my stays in Jakarta. It has a lot of Indonesian charm and great outdoor facilities (running track and 50 yrd pool). The staff is super friendly -- even though the queuing systems for check-in could be improved. :-) On weekends, I also recommend asking for a quiet floor because this hotel can attract a lot of families and wedding parties -- which at times I prefer to avoid. Also the breakfast area on weekends can become very crowded -- which at times leads me to book a room without breakfast. Again, I consider this of my favorite hotels in Jakarta. Andreas S.

I have been very surprised to see how this hotel can compete with all the other 5-stars hotels in Jakarta. The price is very good for an incredible quality/price ratio. The security is very efficient. the rooms are spacious and be bed very comfortable. The design in the room has been carefully selected and one of the major good points is the availability of the 24/7 restaurant. The hotel is well located in Casablanca near the Ambassador's mall. The breakfast is excellent and give a large choice of different kind of food. I highly recommend this hotel for any travelers who would like to stay 1 or more nights in Jakarta.

The hotel is a good location, in the heart of Jakarta. Great facilities with Pool, sauna, spa, and fitness center which can make you relax and fresh. When afternoon time comes, I really enjoy afternoon cocktail at Rimba Ayana Jakarta. The room is clean and spacious space, but my room has an old tv. The hotel should change it with flat tv the new one. My bad experience coming from staff. From the first time, I arrive at the front door, no greeting, no smile, until i must wait 15-20 mins for check in, even when i have a breakfast, why there is no smile on your face and greetings? Please smile and your manner also need to improve. Greeting, smile , what ever the person is coming from. Over all, i'm realy enjoyed my staycation at Ayana Mid Plaza Jakarta. Really surprised to read a few reviews about the place - I wasn't expecting much. Breakfast was a good buffet with an in-house mini bakery providing fresh pasteries! Gym was well equipped for a hotel gym, pool was excellent with a jacuuzi and childs pool with a slide aswell!! Room was ever-so-slightly dated but a good standard and fully equipped for us to cook our own meals. Asked for a high floor and got it with a great view of adjacent towers. Taxi's here are so cheap and trustworthy you can use these to get anywhere in city as the streets immeditely outside aren't pedestrian friendly but I believe this is throughout Jakarta.

Thank you very much for the Sales Executive who responded swiftly to my complain regarding my room. She moved me to a better room and even gave me desserts and hot lemon-infused water. I really appreciated the gesture :) The hotel internet was fast so I could work comfortably in my room. The in-room dining service is a bit pricy but the food was tasty. The hotel provides a lot of variety of food during breakfast so I did not need to have lunch ;) I'll come back to this hotel again if I need to stay in the East Jakarta area.

I have stayed at the Gunawarman 3 separate times during trips to Jakarta. It’s in a great location near the CBD, shopping and outstanding restaurants. What sets this hotel apart from many is its value for such a highly rated hotel. It’s is very inexpensive versus other 5 star hotels. The Gunawarman is clean and the rooms are outstanding. The beds are some of the most comfortable I’ve stayed in. The service is also very very good. I have only one issue and that is on the weekends, the bar allows smoking and louder music until early in the morning. Depending on your room location you can sometimes here the music. Otherwise I believe it’s one of the best options for hotels in Jakarta

Dear Sir/Mdm, good day, Every thing was good except for the towels and pillow cases/bedsheets/comforter which smell a little something like they did not bother to use enough detergent to wash it. I asked them to change the sheets/pillow case on the third day of my 4-night stay there but the faint smell of not-properly cleaned bed linen was still there. The towels smell worse despite daily change and one even had obvious rust stains on it. We are talking about hygiene here and things which come into contact with our skin/senses. The room manager should be fired for such tardiness. Other than that, the hotel should also make an effort to clean the windows which are a little stained and prevent us, at times, from enjoying a clear all round view of the quiet and green neighbourhood. By the way, the small un-inviting pool located right next to the open air area of the Cafe is an eyesore. It makes me feel the open air area of the cafe is located in a wet-floored toilet. Get ride of the pool. Use some thinking here, do something else with the swimming pool space. Last but not least, they should attempt to drop the word 'Darmawangsa' as I feel it does not reflect well on the hotel's part by intentionally or unintentionally associating itself with the high end Dharmawangsa Hotel which is located less than 10 minutes' walk away. Also, it can confuse first time guests and taxi drivers who often mistake it for Dharmawangsa Hotel. To the management of The 101 Hotel located at Darmawangsa Square, Jakarta, please give some thoughts to the above points if you are keen to make it a top 4-star hotel in Jakarta. You are just that close to make the hotel stay at the 101 a great experience, don't throw that chance away. NKH 04 Jan 2016

One of the best stay I have had in a long long time. Could very well be the best stay I have had these 2 years. Quite perfect. Great genuinely friendly staff especially Thom and Rina, great rooms with awesome beds, beautifully strong shower pressure, luxurious amenities, well equipped kitchen, huge room size and practically everything else is perfect here (have never said this in a review before). Very very highly recommended service apartment/hotel. Restaurants, Bars, cozy Market Place all just downstairs with 7-11 next door. A definitely value for money and must stay place when in Jakarta. Rate this place a 10!

Memorable stay with somerset, everything you need is just a stone's throw away. It was perfect for me as I'm a frequent visitor to loewy and a big fan of the kuningan area because its so convenient. The staff were very friendly and helpful, my apartment was how it was from the first day to the last even though I was a very messy person. They did a perfect job on house keeping and were very honest people because I left money lying around everywhere in the apartment and not a single cent was missing. (Plus point) The staff would greet me with genuine smiles and that's what makes my day since I'm also working in the service industry. (Plus plus point) Will choose to stay at somerset whenever I need to travel to jakarta because the apartment felt like home which is most important for me. I highly recommend somerset grand citra to my friends whenever they travel to jakarta because it's awesome.
