Best hotels & accommodations in Izu

While travelling in IZU, there is the choice! Very nice stuff, beautiful yukata( Japanese-style bathrobe). Quiet private beach, all above is beyond my expectation. The room is big enough as well. Imaihama station is only 2 mins walk distance from this hotel. It's really convenience and private place to stay. Appreciate staff. Wish I could be here again in future.

Originally booked a small double room, but the room allows smoking . I worry that may have smell so I remind hotel to ensure the room is refreshed . Hotel was so kind to upgrade me to a non- smoking double room. Thus it was super valued . The room has an excellent view which facing the sea and the pool ! The hotel also offer shuttle to Kawasu station! If you like to wa...

I'm 35, Canadian, my girlfriend is 25, Japanese. The bed, and the room is big, clean, and comfortable. Prior to booking this room, I read the other reviews- and noted guests complaining about the age of the hotel. Let's not forget that some of the finest hotels in N.Y., for example, are more than 100 years old. Age of a hotel does not render it 'old' or unsavory...

This onsen ryokan really blew us away with its beautiful japanese garden setting. Staff were all very friendly and helpful, polite and thoughtful. It is truly the experience of a japanese high end ryokan. The room we stayed had a private outdoor hot spring bath, the room itself was huge, had a living area as well as western twin beds. There was also a small garden outs...

I only came to Izu for the onsen experience and I probably came at a low-peak season as Izu was pretty much a ghost town. There was nothing to do in Izu anyway, it was just a small town with onsen hotels and a beach for surfers. I arrived at the station and the hotel's shuttle van driver was already waiting for my arrival despite me not making any pick-up arrangements....

Nestled in a near-abandoned town 250km, away from the hustle and bustle of the Tokyo Megalopolis, in the thick of Japans Volcanic regions, is the sweetest spot of peace and tranquil abundance. Where Cranes swoop through the Rivers, and deers hop across the highways of the IzuSkyline. Arcana Izu is a divine and rare find. Created by the Owners and energized by the dedi...

- I like this hotel very much, so I would say the pricing is good value for its services. - Location-wise, the hotel is about 10 mins walk from the Izu-Hokgawa station. And the station is about 2 - 4 hours from the Tokyo station depends on if you missed the limited JR express train which is covered by one of the JR passes. - The room is an old-fashion japanese style ro...

Excellent location, right on the beach. Draw your curtains in the morning and you can see beautiful sunshine shining on a great looking stretch of sand. Excellent staff very helpful, especially the Australia educated lady at the front desk with excellent English. Goods Japanese options at the hotel and few pice pizza placed within a short walk from the hotel

This was the first time my daughter and I visited Izu Peninsula. We stayed in a suite with private onsen at the balcony. The room was clean and spacious, and the sea view was gorgeous. The gentleman working at the reception counter was extremely polite and helpful. When we were leaving on the next day, the bus to the train station was going to depart in a few minutes ...

This is a great place to relax. It is a huge place with limited number of guests rooms. No crowds like what you see at Tokyo or Fuji. The room I stayed is facing a golf course. I wished I would skip Tokyo and Fuji and came here directly for a week of relaxation. Having your own transport is a must to fully enjoy.

Izu Marriott Hotel Shuzenji is a very new opening hotel, all good facilities and the staff can understand English. The room is spacious and clean, with private onsen on the balcony. I highly recommend this hotel and resorts if they can add more shuttle bus to Shuzenji station.

Chose this hotel because of excellent review, price and location. If you missed the last hotel shuttle ( like us from Izu-Atagawa station then you can still walk to hotel (< 10 min and down hill) with luggage from hakkawa station though there are few stairs when exit the station. In addition, the outdoor seaside Hakkawa Onsen is right next to the hotel (free for ho...

We booked the Japanese style room with in-room hot spring. Before check in I thought it was quite expensive. But the good facilities, fantastic services and great Japanese food proved me wrong. If you get off at Shuzenji station, you can take a bus for Yoshina Onsen Guchi stop. Please do contact the hotel staff in advance for pick up at Yoshina Onsen Guchi stop. ...

I personally feel that Dinner is too expensive, too much fish, The taste is just so-so. I like the private hot spring in the room. The room is very clean and with sea views! If I will go to Izu again, I will choose this hotel again. Note: You need to return to the hotel before 11pm every night.

I stayed at Tenyu for one night. It's perfectly located with a magnificent view to the rocks in the sea. The public onsen has the same view. Breakfast was hearty and delicious. The hotel staff made my experience unforgettable. Mika is a lady who works at the hotel and she was super helpful with giving me information and making me feel welcome. She went an extra mile fo...

Start from Shuttle bus. Driver friendly and helpful. Check in process. Well prepared for our arrival. Rather than stand at counter, we completed the whole process by sitting at desk with a very kindly speaking staff. Staff took us to our room, checked and changed the pajama size for my little one while explaining all hotel facilities. Dinner is a highlight. What...

We wanted to stay in the Izu peninsula and this was the most affordable place. The view is great from the rooms and the common spaces. The town is small and cute, but there’s not a lot to do, other than some fine restaurants and nice shops of hanging hina dolls. The onsen is ok, the view from there was not as awesome as I expected. Hotel staff was nice but language bar...

A modernised Japanese style hotel, all flooring is covered by tatami and therefore just walk around the hotel with bare foot, socks are also provided. Spacious room with comfortable beds, suits with bathroom and toilet. We didn't use during our stay because the private Orsen room is more spacious for shower with more than enough amenities. There are 4 private Orsen Roo...

The hotel felt really big and comfortable. You can think it was a little old, but the atmosphere was really good and the service was excellent. When I was guided into the room, it was really amazing inside and we were really satisfied. The spa was bigger than I thought, and the water was really good. Breakfast is very delicious and I am really satisfied with their serv...

The food is good - all about seafood as it is about Izu. The onsen is awesome - simply great.!! Great view - to the Izu sea.! Rooftop.! Open air.!! The staff are very helpful, two of them can speak fluent English. In this little village this is a very good service. In particular the young man called Fumi who served me in the 3 days - super helpful, offers me all the i...

The hotel was a very nice property considering the remote location on the Izu Peninsula. there are a number of items that you should know and perhaps put into you hotel description of services. 1. The hotel offers free shuttle service to the Shimoda Train Station at certain hours of the day which I was not aware of when I booked through this website. 2. Upon checkin...

Our experience of staying there was very pleasant. My wife was sick and could not go to dinner with us during our stay. The restaurant in-charge offered to send the whole set of meal or other food to the room for her. Finally we ordered congee for her. The food was delivered to the room with words of concern and good wishes from the hotel. Also, the sunset scene at the...

This property accepts only one group per night at the moment, so you are the only guest(s). The laid-back owner lives in the property and runs bar at night at part of the 1st floor. He's such a surfer and runs a side business, he's not always there and sorry for the inconvenience. Feel free to use kitchen, utensils, fridge, microwave, toilet, etc. and instant coffee/...

Located within stone's throw from attractions like Shuzenji Temple, the scenic river, foot baths and many restaurants. The hostel was spotlessly clean with all the basic amenities one would need. The blankets provided were very comfortable to sleep in. The hostel hosts and staff were very friendly and helpful. Everyone seems to know everyone in this area so it felt r...

We enjoyed our stay. We stayed one night & had the room w the bathroom. The bathroom was small but nice. The shared bathroom was bigger & nicer. The rooms were clean & AC worked great. View was nice but the room was situated on the main highway so it was noisy at night. The beds were comfortable but sheets were stiff. They also did not give you regular towels only 1 ha...

It was only an overnight stopover for me on my bicycle trip around the izu peninsular. I did not venture outside the hotel, and I did not use the spa facilities, so I can offer a good opinion (hence 3 stars from me: perhaps they deserve a higher mark). The evening buffet was huge; so many choices, so much fantastic seafood, and all of it delicious. Certainly that was t...

I had visited Izu peninsula with my family to enjoy free style trip in this area. We bought good fishes on our way to Guest house and made our dinner by our self, afterwards had a sudden memorable drinking party with owner. She is very kind and sensitive personality who try to keep distance between guests to make themselves comfortable. We had good talk and shared ...

I thought it would be difficult to find the hotel from the bus stop by night, but it was well indicated and very close to it. The staff is very friendly, even if I spoke in Japanese the staff could also speak English. I traveled around the Izu peninsula for 4 days and 3 nights, Beach Side Inn was the most expensive hotel but it worth it. It is in front of the shrine an...

When we arrived, we were told that the hotel was closed, and indeed, it appeared so.... dimly lit, aging, and pet bunnies (???) hanging out in the lobby. We presented our reservations, and apparently we and our friends were the only guests that weekend so it was really rather creepy. The Japanese rooms were clean and decent for the price, but beware! this hotel does ...

Breakfast and dinner was delicious! Hotel rooms were clean, complete with all the toiletries. Had our first onsen experience and it was really a memorable stay for us. The staff are amazing! They have bus services to and from their hotel from the train station. They also offered a quick night tour around the area.

If you want to expreience the tranditional Japanese living and enjoy the highest quality of food, we are strongly recomment this ryokan (inn). They showed us all of the places, taugh us how to use the facilities and provided a lot of information for sightseeing, they are very kind and helpful. The room we lived was big and with a sea view. Moreover, they have 2 bathroo...

We arrived at the pension by taxi, which is about a 10 minute drive from station Izu-Atagawa. It is a bit far from the main amenities, but the surroundings are beautiful. When we arrived, the family was very surprized. They had not yet received the reservation that we made the day before. Nevertheless, our room was prepared within 10 minutes, and they also created a...

This was our first time staying in Traditional Japanese Tatami mat room. The view was just unbelievable! Ocean out one window and mountains on the other. The beach is only a short walk! It was steep but it kept us active. The room was clean and everything was provided for us. The facility was clean and well taken care of. The host, Mr Yamamoto was so kind and patient...

This is my 2nd visit here and both times I have found the location and the meals to be outstanding. A visit to Shuzenji is a lovely stop and this is a very nice place. The Onsen is nice, but beginning to show its age a little. However the meal and the service were lovely.

A very nice ryokan located up a slope in the quiet town of Izunokuni. Very friendly host even though she doesn’t speak English. Wonderful meals during our stay. We had a good sleep there, should have stayed another night. We left our luggages at the ryokan to visit Awashima Island. The owner sent us to the jetty. After our trip to the island we took a bus to Numazu t...

It took 45 mins of bus travelling time to get there, but it’s worth. The hotel is located almost at mountain peak, can see the Fuji mountain. A lot of facilities include tennis counts - tennis rackets are available as well. The hot spring rooms are at the top floor, allows customers to look at the Fuji mountain, very romantic, and relaxing. I visit the hot spring in ...

We needed lodging for several days in Nagaoko, and Hachinobou was reasonably priced, with a promising description. As far as we could tell, we were the only foreign tourists there during our stay, but the staff made their best efforts to make us feel welcome. The owner's son's English was adequate to allow us to communicate, and we also had delightful conversation in E...

We've lived in Japan nearly 4 years and stayed at a few ryokans. They are all older properties, and the condition of the hotels based on price often shocks foreign travelers. This inn was very cozy though, and stood out because of the amenities available: a DVD library with lots of indie flicks and choices in English, extra large yukata for big foreign guests like us, ...

Beautiful private onsen (4 types) for couples or families and the service was very excellent! Staff went out of the way to make our stay perfect. The futons were also super comfortable and thicker than usual. By far one the best ryokans we stayed at!

Traditional Japanese style hospitality, the hotel has history with well maintain infrastructure, the garden inside the hotel was really great. The service really feels like home. This ryokan was lovely. We were a group of 3 and the room was lovely and big enough for all of us with all mod cons needed. The large bath on the 7th floor was lovely and had an outdoor pool and the private bath we had was sheer luxury! Dinner was great, it was unusually as it was a fusion of Western and Japanese. To be very honest I would have preferred a full Japan...

Very pleasant! Located by the seaside (although facing a highway), this quiet and semi-traditional Ryokan is worth the price you pay for. It is not cheap, but opt for the traditional tatami rooms (only two out of seven rooms) with meals included. You might be surprised initially that other local guests have different dinner plans, especially with lobster and other fanc...

The ryokan experience is very special to Japan and this inn does not disappoint. The welcome greeting was pleasant, the room very basic but well appointed, and I liked the various choices of onsen, including the outdoor rotenburo. The non-reserved rotenburo were actually more pleasing than the family reserved one. The meals were extravagant, plentiful and exotic. F...

Staff had little knowledge of English, still tried their best to make our stay comfortable. Room was good size and had everything we needed. Food provided at breakfast and dinner were more than adequate. We particularly like the hotel location which is just a little outside the town and easy walk/drive to get to the Sakura along the river.

- Food is truly superb, esp the sashimi plate and barbecued abalone. Basically the best Japanese food I have ever had in my lifetime. - Location-wise, not too convenient for travellers and would take one hour of bus ride from the nearest railway station 修善寺駅. Traveler impressions of Izu
Nice place - atami has more shopping than ito itself though. Would be nice if Buses were more frequent
Although there are not too much sightseeing points in Atami, taking a cable car up the hill to the Atami Castle to view the city and bay from a high point is still a good choice.
every peaceful small town, the good way to know the Japan culture. no much tourists. and tasting food
Nice place with a lot of sightseeing.. We are not manage to go all places as we only stayed for 2 nights.
It was a lovely area, with some very lovely sights. Some of the views along the coast are just incredible.
Very nice natural scene everywhere. If you like driving, try not to 100% follow your GPS sometimes. GPS usually shows the shortest way to your destination but skip some beautiful scene.
You could spend all day at the beach, whose facilities have just been upgraded, but you would be missing out on many things such as nature walks, exciting castles perched high above the sea, spas, birds wildlife, fishing and excursions on fast hydroplanes to mist shrouded islands.
Nice beaches, but they are far from restaurants, etc. There are interesting parts of town (Perry Way), but overall the town feels dead with few interesting shops.
There are great beaches in this area e.g Shirahama beach. It's best to visit in spring, as it gets very crowded in summer.
You can find good beach and restaurant and Musium. However you need car to move around. Otherwise you have to take taxi a lot.
Izu is the perfect way out of Tokyo for a week end. I went there by car with my wife and 9 months old son, except for the traffic on the coastline road everything was perfect, so I recommend to take the skyline road through central izu, it is much easier.
