Gorgeous Sunset View from the Roof Top”

Mountain View, Clean and Comfortable Room Facilities, Helpful Staff and Shuttle Service to Town

Our stay at Alishan House was wonderful. When we reached the town center at the bottom, we were a little confused on where to get the shuttle service to Alishan. Luckily another tourist going up to the hotel called for pick up in a comfortable shuttle bus Fast check-in and impressive interior surrounded by the lush scenery - premium location at the top. As we stayed in the newly renovated wing, the facilities were still quite new and well- maintained. We were greeted by a personalized welcome letter and a fruit basket - a surprising touch. Room was facing a high mountain and the bath tub was beside a full length window overlooking the view. Quite enjoyable to soak in the privacy of the tub while appreciating the greenery. The room is small but cosy. The hotel has a free shuttle to and fro the hotel to the town center - very convenient with friendly driver. One of them even gave us the advice to take an off-beaten track to an closed railway track which we had a pleasant stroll. The best thing about the hotel was the sunset on the viewing platform - best to go early so that you can stand by the railing for an unobstructed photograph. The food at the outdoor cafe was not fantastic and pricey. But the morning buffet was much much better. Overall a wonderful experience and will go back again if I went back to Alishan!

Great hotel but kinda expensive”

Great experience in Alishan Hotel in Jan 2018. I picked the newly renovated block, which had very clean rooms and washrooms. Although kinda expensive, the cleanliness is really unmatched compared to other hotels in Alishan. The hotel also offers complimentary breakfast and dinner. Both were buffets and had a wide selection of food, from chinese to western. There were seafoods, multiple soups, noodles counter, desserts, ice cream, congee, vegetarian options etc. Note that the hotel is situated in Alishan Forest Recreational Area, which is inside Alishan National Scenic Area. Outside cars are not allowed into the area the hotel is in. However, they provide shuttle buses that pick guests up at the tourist center every 15-20mins. The hotel is also conveniently located along some walking trails and has an open area which you can view sunset from. Overall, I think the stay was a very pleasant experience and would definitely recommend anyone visiting Alishan to stay here.

The best of limited accommodation choices in Alishan”

What impressed us most with Alishan House was the shuttle bus drivers' services and willingness to go out of their way to help us. My husband felt sick due to high altitude in the mountains, so we spent all the time there in the hotel and between medical centre and hotel. The front staff were professional but the concierge and shuttle bus teams were way more friendly and attentive. The staff at 50s Cafe was very nice and she provided some good suggestions with afternoon. We paid extra to upgrade our booking to the room in Modern Building as we did not feel very comfortable in the Historical Building session. The room were good and clean but there were some moulds around the bath tub and tap in the sink. The dinner and breakfast buffet were included in the room rate, and the selection of food were reasonable. The hotel is overpriced for its class, but we were comfortable and with limited choices in Alishan, we will be happy to stay in the hotel next time.

Exceptional”

Alishan House was the perfect place for us. We were there the end of November and it was cold outside, but our room was nice and warm. We had a view & a modern bathroom with nice hot shower and bathtub. We took the 9am bus from Sun Moon Lake and arrived at noon. The hotel shuttle bus picked us up from the bus station. The hotel staff was helpful and friendly, especially Ben, Hulk and Grace. The hotel is inside the scenic park with walking trails all around. The room came with breakfast and dinner included, and I am glad I chose to have dinner there, since we were tired after walking all day. The meals are buffet style, served in a large dining room. We watched the sunset from a hotel viewing terrace. We were able to buy our sunrise train tickets at the hotel, and the hotel shuttle picked us up at 4:50 am 😴the next morning and took us to the sunrise train station. The next time we go to Alishan I will definitely stay here again.

I feel protected ”

My first visit to Alishan was when I was 12 years old. Now I bring my wife after 40 years for her first experience of Alishan. Alishan house has changed alot. There is the historical building and the new building. I remembered staying in the historical building and thus chose that for my stay. The staff was friendly and very helpful. My trip took us from Kaoshiung Airport, MRT to Zuoying THSR to Chiayi THSR. From Chiayi THSR, there is a direct bus to the Bus station in Alishan. It took 2 and half hours up from the THSR station stopping only once for rest. When we reached the Bus station, Alishan Hotel shuttle bus came down to pick us up into the Alishan Nature Reserve where the Alishan Hotel is situated. The staff was very efficient and checked us in quickly. Advising us to quickly book tickets for the sunrise tour the next morning. We got all the free bus shuttle ride from Alishan Hotel to the train station. The train tickets were purchased from the reception at the Alishan Hotel.

Best hotel in Alishan”

We had stayed in the deluxe quad on the 8th floor. As that was our first time in Alishan, we had no idea how to go about or what we could do there. Upon checking in, the hotel staff at the reception was very helpful. Firstly, she said it was too early to check-in. Hence, she handed us a map and advised us to go for a walk in the forest. It was an amazing experience to go for the walk. The room was cozy with forest view. However, there was smoke smell. As it was winter period, we are unable to adjust the aircon to get rid of the smell. The breakfast was good and a wide variety. If you do not wish to dine in the hotel, Alishan House provides free shuttle bus to Alishan National Scenic Area Administration - Visitor Center where there are eateries and provision shops.

The best place to stay at in Alishan National Forest Recreation Area ”

We were glad for the complimentary shuttle service between the bus terminal, the visitor center and the hotel. The front desk during check-in was great. Special shout-out to Jason and Risse. They were the most cordial, helpful and attentive of everyone at the front desk. The hotel has a great location inside the park. We could start walking on any of the trails right from the hotel’s doorstep. Dinner and breakfast were included in our package. Both were pretty good and had a wide selection of dishes. I personally loved the noodle station. We also went up to the rooftop to enjoy the famous Alishan sunset in the sea of clouds. The scene was heavenly and unforgettable. We also walked around the hotel and checked out the old photos on the walls of the historic wing of the hotel. We even had afternoon tea at the 1950s cafe. Great ambiance and afternoon tea experience! Best part of all was our room. We had a perfect view of the sea of clouds during sunset while sipping Alishan tea.

Best Option in the Alishan Forest Recreation Area”

We chose Alishan House because this was the best option available within the Alishan Forest Recreation Area. The forest trails begin literally in front of the hotel. Hotel also provides the convenience of twice hourly shuttle vans to the Alishan tourist information centre (where the restaurants and shops are located within the Alishan Forest Recreation Area). The tourist information centre is also where you would arrive if you are taking a bus up from Chiayi or Fenchihu / Shizhao directly up to Alishan. The Alishan House has an old and new wing. The old wing is dated and shows obvious signs of wear and tear. However, that said, the rooms are still relatively clean. Beds are rather hard and uncomfortable. We were determined to book a room in the new wing but it is not clearly indicated on Agoda which rooms were in the old or the new wing. Take note that 'Deluxe' indicates rooms in the new wing and 'Superior' indicates rooms in the old wing. Breakfast and dinner were included and had a wide selection. However, we found the food served rather oily, and the crowd was massive. Be sure to arrive at the time the buffet opens so that you will be able to find sufficient food available at the buffet spread. Hotel also has an interesting star-gazing class every night (ask the reception for more information). The Hotel will also assist to reserve train tickets to Chushan to view the sunrise and provide a morning call service to ensure that you wake up in time for this activity. Shuttle vans also run return trips from the hotel to and from the railway station to Chushan for guests opting to catch the sunrise.

Good location to walk the Alishan area”

Good location, good service for the sunrise viewing, nice rooms

The location for this hotel is very good for walking the Alishan forest area. After my check in the forest walk is right outside the hotel. You could cover most of the major sights of this walk in the afternoon. There is also a viewing deck in the hotel for Sunset viewing. The view from this deck is spectacular for sunset viewing. The hotel price is high and this is likely the best hotel in the Alishan Recreation area. There is a hotel shuttle bus to take you from the car park to the hotel or the train station for sunrise viewing in the morning. The train tickets could be arrange from the hotel the day before for sunrise viewing so that you need not queue early in the morning. The breakfast spread has a wide variety but the breakfast area seems cold as the ceiling is high and there is very little heating. The room as good heating but the hot water takes a little more time than usual to warm up. If you could book the rooms on the high floors facing west you could get a good view for sunset in your patio. We stayed in the new wing and I had a look at the old wing and it looks a bit dated.

Alishan House combines history, service and facilities for a high quality stay”

Alishan House provided us with a fabulous stay at a 'must-see' tourist spot in Taiwan. Highlights include: - Value for Money - we were upgraded and had a spacious room, with good views and excellent facilities within the room. We stayed for three nights so had the chance to really appreciate the place, including the rooftop, so we could view the sunset and sunrise. Location - it was good with access to all the nearby walking tracks or access to day trips. The only reason it did not score excellent as there was a reliance on the Hotel's shuttle service to the railway station. Cleanliness - no real issue - the carpet needs steam cleaning otherwise it would have scored it excellent. Staff - were the best we'd experience in Taiwan so far and we have been fortunate overall. We sought advice on tours and general walking information and assistance within the hotel. Facilities - excellent - I particularly appreciated the meal service.

I really enjoyed my stay at Alishan House II. It is easily the best hotel in the Alishan area. The rooms are big and comfortable; the location is really perfect for exploring the nature and mountain trails of Alishan; the staff really made sure our experience was nothing short of the best! A pleasant and enjoyable stay in the mountain”

We had a small family discussion of whether to book this hotel in the first place. However, I personally think we made the right move. The hotel is great. Since Alishan is a mountain, we don't want to get caught in looking for shuttles going up and down the mountain. The hotel serves a wide variety of food for breakfast and dinner (inclusive). Dinner sees 2 batches of admissions, but i think the food is more than enough to feed a whole village. The hotel provides frequent shuttle service (they said every 20 mins, but they will just send us even when it was just ... us). The room is huge; we booked the family room and we have plenty of personal space for everyone. The bathroom comes with a jacuzzi too. I also like their bathroom amenities very much, especially the shampoo and conditioner. A trip to Alishan should be a relaxing one, because the National Park has plenty to offer.

Great hotel for Alishan”

I traveled with a close friend and chose Alishan House because of its location inside the park. The main trails are just outside the door, which was wonderful. Also, because the hotel was inside the park, all the day-travelers were gone by dark, so everything was much quieter. The hotel is getting a little old, even in the modern wing where we stayed. There was a definite odor to the whole place, and it could use some updating, especially with the carpet, but we were comfortable and happy to be there. The dinner and breakfast buffets were fine, though nothing spectacular. The hotel staff that greeted us and checked us in were really lovely and very knowledgeable. I think the price was a little on the high side, but it was worth it for a trip you're not going to do often!

Probably the best hotel in Alishan nature park”

This hotel is probably the best for exploring the best that Alishan nature park offers. You can view fantastic sunsets right from the hotel, as well as "cloud seas" from the roof viewing deck. So two out of the five highlights of Alishan is right there at your hotel. The breakfast and dinner spreads are very impressive and delicious. The only stopping us from enjoying more of the food is the size of our stomachs! The historical wing which I stayed is very nicely done, though the flushing system there still doesn't handle toilet paper well (the hotel recommends that you dispose of used toilet paper into the bin; though you can try flushing once after each piece of toilet paper you use, doesn't seem to cause any problems when used that way).

Alishan House is the best place in Alishan Park”

Our Alishan Tour experience would never be as superb as it was without meeting RISSE, who is a proud Filipina. She made our stay memorable. Alishan house is the center of the park. You could just walk around the circle of the park to take pictures of picturesque views. Weather is cold in the summer so it is such a relief to get out of humid Taipei and take a fresh breathe.

a great hotel ”

I love the weather and the location. The hotel will help you sort out what you need. But they need to improve foods to worth a 4 stars hotel. Also, be considered if you want to travel to Alishan by a shuttle bus from Chiayi station. The bus has a tiny bag storage. So, you have to keep your luguages all the way to Alishan (about 2.5 hours).

Excellent hotel, everything that was required.”

Great staff, cleanliness, goog room service.

We had a great time at Alishan house, and I even had the mis-fortune of my car breaking down ( completely flat battery ) no problems, a young lad was sent for with " Jump Leads ", and he took us to the car park in the Alishan Van, where he promptly started my car for me. I cannot reccommend this place enough, wonderful service, and if any of my friends decide to visit Taiwan, this is one hotel I would reccommend.

Location, location, location!”

Based on other reviews I didn't have high standards for Alishan House. We stayed in the Superior Suite in the old building and found the accommodations to be comfortable and spacious. The floors in the bathroom looked like they hadn't been mopped, with dust balls and hair under the sink. The beds were comfortable, though, and the sheets and towels were clean. The biggest benefit of staying here is its location within the Alishan National Park, since it's easy to get to hiking trails and to take the train to Zhusan in the morning to catch the sunrise. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and one of the employees even told us about a better viewing platform for the sunrise away from the crowds. We experienced the most magnificent sunrise of our lives thanks to this generous employee. The hotel is certainly overpriced for what you pay, but it justifies its cost due to its location. The warm hand towels and hot tea provided at check-in were lovely welcoming gestures.

Cherry blossoms at Alishan late March”

Alishan House is in a great location opposite the "Sakura" garden. There is a free shuttle to take you to an fro the station n info centre at half hour schedule. Staff is excellent ,friendly n very helpful. Food is of good quality and great variety.. There is the new n historical block. We stayed at the historical block. The room is huge w 2 super queen sized beds (for2!) good amenities w a free standing heater. just think this block needs upgrading as the balcony is overlooked. Our stay includes breakfast n buffet dinner Overall had a fantastic stay as they even arranged for the Sunrise viewing on arrival.
