Beautiful hotel, great location, excellent service”
We stayed in Hotel Niwa Tokyo for 4 nights and cannot fault the hotel in any way during our stay. Before our trip, we emailed the hotel to ask them to help us make several reservations at restaurants we wished to dine in. The communication via email was excellent and the manager who assisted us was helpful in every way. The hotel itself is about 5 mins walk to Suidobashi station, which has both a JR rail line, and a subway line which makes access to any part of Tokyo extremely easy and convenience. The hotel also has 2 adjoining restaurants (one of them is a Bar & Grill, the other is a traditional Japanese-style) but unfortunately we did not have time to try them - we would have if we had more time. The double room that we had itself is not very large, but more than sufficient for having a good rest along with clean and well-stocked bathrooms. On the last day, it was raining and the hotel even provided free umbrellas to take with us free of charge - all this even after we had checked out. To top it off, we only paid AUD100 per night on an amazing Agoda deal - it was definitely worth more than that given the location and service in a enormous city like Tokyo! Highly recommended.

Quaint, comfy & central”
Lovely hotel, beautiful grounds and lobby area. Very tastefully appointed rooms, a little on the small side but well equipped, quiet and comfortable. The third floor refresh room is a stand out feature of the hotel. The Japanese garden is serene and a lovely place to unwind in the afternoon sun or after a late night in wonderful Tokyo. The massage chairs are downright awesome, we fell asleep on two occasions when we didn't intend to. The refresh room also features vending machines for beers, soft drinks etc and washing facilities. There is also an adjacent gym. The location of Hotel Niwa is vey good indeed, despite our initial concerns that it was situated in a relatively quiet area. It is within 5 minutes walk of 2 metro stations, next door to a 24 hour convenience store and there are various bars and restaurants tucked away in the surrounding streets of you explore. It is also within 5 mins of the Tokyo Dome theme park and entertainment complex which was an unexpected but fantastic surprise (you have to ride the Thunder Dolphin if you have a strong stomach!!). Overall, we had a wonderful 7 nights at the Niwa and I would wholeheartedly recommend it!

As Good As the Reviews Say”
I parsed the Agoda reviews, looking for a great centrally located hotel for our first trip to Tokyo. The Niwa absolutely delivered on all of its great reviews. well designed room that combines Western amenities with Japanese sensibilities. The location is superb; just a short 5 minute walk to Suidoboshi Station and 10 minutes to Tokyo Dome. The neighborhood is nice and quiet with some fun izakayas and ramen shops nearby. There's a few convenience stores close by as well for those late night snack runs. The internet in the room is very fast. Make sure to check out the massage chairs while waiting for your clothes to dry in the laundry room. Only downside is that the room is "small" by Western standards. If you are a larger person, you may find the room a bit tight. Highly recommended.

Superb Property - highly recommended”
I was initially hesitant booking here, but decided to take a chance based on reviews. Both my wife and I really enjoyed our Tokyo stay in the Niwa. Nothing fancy or over the top, but I solid 4 star boutique hotel in a quite neighborhood. Rooms were exactly as advertised and our non-smoking room was in immaculate condition. A bit tight on space with two large hard sided suitcases and lack of proper storage, but this is typical throughout Japan. Hotel Niwa proved to be a great location for getting to all the touristy parts of Tokyo and you only need to walk five minutes to find the Squidobashi train station. Luckily, we rented a pocket wifi at Narita, so using the iPad and Hyperdia, we pretty much had the navigation of the train lines sorted out by the second day. While we did stay in other nice hotels during our two weeks in Japan, the Hotel Niwa was one of our favorites - a real value for your money. We will certainly be returning next year.

Hotel Niwa was perfect”
Our room was very nice; quiet, very large and clean. Niwa provided toothbrushes, combs, slipper and pyjamas. The bathroom was large, modern and clean. The front desk had no problem with English. Niwa is in a quiet part of Tokyo, but with many universities nearby, there are lots of cheap and quick places to eat. The Tokyo Dome is close, with a spa and other entertainment. Suidobashi stations for the Toei subway and the JR trains are in nearby walking distance, which let us connect very quickly to the rest of Tokyo. When we left, we took a taxi to Ueno station then the Keisei express to Narita. It was very fast and affordable. The Hotel has a gym on the second floor, but I did not have time to see it. The restaurant/bar closes at 10:30 PM.

Nice hotel for a nice price”
I got a ridiculously low rate on a lovely room at the Niwa. I think the price was so low because of the season (during the New Year holiday week) and because it was a smoking room, but I couldn't tell: no latent tobacco odor in the room whatsoever. The Niwa is a beautiful hotel and the standard room was spacious, comfortable, nicely appointed and decorated. I'm 194cm/6'4" and was able to take a bath in the tub. Location is very convenient: 5-10 minute walk to nearby metro/subway stations, 5-minute walk to Tokyo Dome Hotel where you can catch one of the Airport Limousine buses to Narita, lots of good places nearby to eat and drink.

A superlative experience”
The hotel is fairly new and the rooms are well designed (with good quality fittings and features, and comfortable beds) to make the best use of space, compared to many other Tokyo hotels which are tiny and a bit run down. The location is also a welcome relief from the crowds of Shinjuku and Shibuya, though both of those are very easily accessible as the local subway station serves 3 different lines; it is also fairly close to Tokyo Station. Another great thing about the location is that it feels more local, in an accessible neighbourhood way, and there are also an abundance of good value places to eat as it is in a university district. But more than anything, the Hotel Niwa Tokyo set a new benchmark for me in terms of how great service in a hotel can be. I was travelling for business and had a few challenging logistical things to get done and the staff, in particular Mr R Yamamoto, could not have been more helpful and gracious. I stayed twice during my trip and by the end, practically wanted to move in!

Great hotel, kind personel, great location (metro)”
I spent some days in Tokyo, in the Tokyo Dome zone, where the hotel is situated. The zone is nice, and from the Niwa hotel you can have access to the JR lines, and the Tokyo Metro lines. The hotel was great! For my parents too (double room). Quiet, very silent, very clean, the best for travellers and business people. The personal is very very kind! The zone is secure, and full of restaurants, bars (also with italian coffee!), and the Tokyo Dome is 2 mins from the hotel. Nice experience! =)

convenient location, comfortable, quiet”
We've actually stayed in even smaller rooms in Japan, at this same price, so we really didn't think it was too small at all. Sure, the bed was a little tight for 2, but it was nice to have a full-sized bathroom. What we loved most was the location - it was quiet, and yet close to JR Suidobashi station (tech-freaks and otakus would be happy to note that it's just 2 stops from Akihabara). The window can be opened a crack for ventilation, which was a nice touch. There are vending machines, washing machines, and massage chairs on the 3rd floor (and a pleasant smoking corner on the adjoining outdoor balcony area). We didn't get the breakfast plan, which worked out as there are many food outlets nearby. Tokyo Dome (5min away) has a foodcourt with a wide selection of food at reasonable prices. I'll definitely stay at Niwa again, on my next trip to Tokyo.

Lovely hotel and great service”
the hotel located near the suidobashi jr lines, which is a good thing for those who applied for jr rail pass, since it can practically brings you to everywhere you want (along the jr lines, that is). along the neighbourhood you can find convenient store (one next door and some others on the main road), some eating places, and tokyo dome city which have bunch of restaurants, cafes, shopping mall, spa/onsen (laqua) and amusement park. pretty much everyone in the area knows the hotel location, if you're feeling lost you can just ask anyone and they'll direct you to the hotel (granted you can understand japanese). room designed in a bit mix of the traditional and modern japan, and though i felt the room is a bit small, it's still comfortable nonetheless. staffs are helpful, though most of them only talk limited english. as for the wireless, i didn't get to try because apparently they don't have the guide for macintosh, but they provided the internet cord for your laptop. we enjoyed our stay at niwa hotel and would love to stay there whenever we're visiting tokyo again!

Lovely little boutique hotel in a quiet area.”
This is my second stay at Hotel Niwa. It is a nice, small boutique hotel tucked away in a quiet area of Tokyo. There are several schools of the Nihon University in this area so there are many small restaurants off the main street. Also, the hotel is a 5 minute walk from the Suidobashi JR station and 10 minute walk from Tokyo Dome city. The rooms are small, but with modern decor and amenities. Everything is very clean. The staff are friendly and try to be helpful, but the range of English abilities varies. Unfortunately, one staff member sent me out to Tsukiji fish market at 4 am, only for me to find out during the holiday season the auctions are completely closed to visitors. This was not due to not understanding English, but the staff member simply didn't know. There are two restaurants in the hotel, both somewhat high end (Japanese and French). During my stay this holiday season, although I wanted to dine at one of them, I couldn't because they were completely booked. It would have been nice to give hotel guests some priority for the restaurants. The hotel fitness room consists of a couple of treadmills. If you really want to work out you will have to go somewhere else. I went to a Gold's Gym in Ginza which allows day passes. This was the closest one I could find. Other benefits include free Wi-Fi in the rooms, a free bottle of water on a daily basis and a convenience store right next door. There will be no amazing views of Tokyo in this hotel as it is small, nor will it be a hustling and bustling area like Shibuya, Shinjuku, or Ginza, but you can't go wrong with the price by staying here. If you want to be in a relatively quiet area but still have easy access, I would highly recommend this hotel.

Wonderful hotel”
Hotel Niwa is at a great location near the train lines, making it easy to travel around Tokyo. The staff members are very helpful, polite and speak English. Across the road from the hotel is a family mart (so you can buy snacks) and a cheap noodle place (where you can get great soba). Tokyo Dome City is also within walking distance - there's a Muji and an amusement park there, perfect for hanging out at on your last day in Tokyo if you don't want to go too far from the hotel.

New, Modern, Clean and Convenient Hotel”
it was our first time in tokyo and this hotel was so perfect for us! if you spend the whole day in the busy parts of tokyo, coming home to hotel niwa is a great way to recharge. the rooms are decently sized (considering we were in japan), very clean and new! i loved the little touches that made our stay extra comfortable. the free massage chairs on the 3rd floor, heated toilet seats, super soft pajamas and pretty cool interior. it still gave us the feeling of japanese style even if we were in a modern hotel. it was conveniently located near a jr & toei subway station and if you walked a couple of blocks, you'll find so many awesome and very friendly local bars & restaurants. i would love to stay at hotel niwa again!

A great hotel very well situated in Tokyo”
This is a great hotel, with a very professional and helpful staff. The room that we hired (Superior Twin) was perfect for us. We hired two rooms for two adults + two older children. The room has two comfortable beds and a good bathroom. The room was not too small. The air condition was very good. The room was very quiet and the dark curtain made the room dark, which made it easy to get a good night sleep. The wifi worked well. The small garden and the relax room on floor three was also great after a long day in Tokyo. And the room was equipped with a small fridge, great. The hotel is very well situated in Tokyo, close to both JR train station (Suidobashi) and the Metro. The surrounding area, with the Tokyo Dome area and lots of good restaurants within just a few minutes walking distance, makes this a nice area to stay in. I will definitely recommend this hotel, and I will definitely stay here if I come to Tokyo again.

Comfy hotel with friendly service”
We were quite satisfied with our stay at Hotel Niwa Tokyo. Easy access to public transportation with a convenient store almost at doorstep. A lot of restuarants nearby with a variety of choices. Feel-safe neighborhood close to Nihon University. The room is big enough to make our 4-day stay comfy. I like the room size that is not too small, neither too big. Everything seems to be new, clean and in good condition. The bathroom is quite roomy as well and warm-seat is available. No stinky smell. Staff were helpful and put you into the Japanese culture surroundings. I made this reservation during sale time, a little too expensive for our comfy-but-on-budget trip but like I said we were satisfied. I would definitely consider Hotel Niwa again for my next trip to Japan but if it is not on sale, I will have to give it a pass since it will be too expensive.

Two thumbs up!”
i am usually a budget traveler who is looking for a very nice place with good value for your money. you don't need to search for any hotels in tokyo anymore! this is a fine hotel if you don't want to spend that much every night. the place is rather small but that's not so much of a factor for me as long as the room itself is neat and tidy. the staff is friendly and they can speak understandable english. i also did get to enjoy their very fast wireless internet connection as well. getting in touch with my friends and family overseas each day is never this easy! my only nitpick for this hotel is the number of power outlets available in the room. we have a lot of devices and cameras that needs recharging every night. anyway, that's something you won't consider as a deal breaker. other than that, we will consider this hotel if we plan to do sightseeing again in tokyo! too bad i didn't bring my hdmi cable with me just to watch some movies every night after an exhausting day. in terms of other hotel facilities, i didn't get the chance to review them since we are busy doing a lot of sightseeing in tokyo.

Great Option for nice accommodation in Tokyo st”
The stay at hotel Niwa was great. 5 minute walk to the Suidobashi Station, with easy access to all areas of Tokyo via the train network. After visiting Shibuya, Shinjuku, and other busy areas in Tokyo, it was nice to have a quiet area to come back to. It is close to the Tokyo Dome if you wanted to catch a baseball game as well. In any case, the facilities were great, laundry was available, staff was friendly, and the rooms were clean and a good size. My wife loved the bathtub. If there was an outdoor pool, it would have been perfect! We definitely would stay here again.

#1 on My Tokyo Hotel List”
Hotel Niwa is my preferred Tokyo hotel. A short walk from Suidobashi Station and Tokyo Dome. There is a conbini a few doors down, as well as many restaurants in the nearby area. My room was spacious for a Japanese hotel room with a nice comfortable bed. There are less expensive hotels in the area, but I would pay the extra for the experience I had there.

Great, clean hotel!”
Centrally located just a few stops from Akihabara and on the Chuo line, location of the hotel was great. Very easy to find from Suidobashi stop or the Airport Limousine Bus stop at Tokyo Dome, and not a very long walk from either. Hotel is beautifully designed and appointed, and while the rooms are somewhat small by western standards, they are very well sized by Tokyo standards. Restaurants are very nice, but at a price, with the fare being a little bit pricey, but typical for a higher end hotel in Tokyo. I managed to book during an Agoda sale, making it excellent value for money. At full price, it's still a good value.

A Fine Tokyo Hotel”
The Hotel Niwa Tokyo was a superb base for exploring Tokyo. The room was a clever hotel version of a ryokan, the staff were all very helpful and friendly, and the neighbourhood had excellent public transportation connections and a wide variety of restaurants and convenience stores (excellent in Japan). The station isn't far, yet the surroundings aren't noisy. The hotel seemed to attract tourists and business people in roughly equal numbers. I'd recommend it highly.
