Wonderful Hotel!”

prime location, clean and spacious room, attentive staff

My mom and I stayed for 2 nights at the Hotel Visata Premio Kyoto and we loved it. The room is big, compared to Japanese standards, and the bathroom is spacious. It is clean and also nicely designed. The location of the hotel is great, being in a walking distance of a subway station and the shopping district. What impressed us most was the impeccable staff. Most of the people at the front desk speak good english, which is a rare thing around this part of the country, and all of them were very attentive. They helped me with so many things, from booking a restaurant to checking toys stock in Osaka (thank you Mr.Yoshimura!), and I am truly grateful for that. This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in Japan, and I would definitely stay here again on my next trip to Kyoto.

Perfect Hotel”

Great Location, Good Service, New Hotel

if you come from kyoto station, try to find tourist information office locate in 1/f, staff uses fluency english to guide you how to get hotel, as well as offer you the bus line map and city map. this hotel is behind the loft, and it locates in centralized commercial district of downtown kyoto - kawaramachi sanjo, near to everywhere...just beside shinkyogoku, all the department store around side, 10 min' walk to nishikikoujidoori, 15 min' walk to gion shijo, 20 min' walk to nijojo. i even walked to kiyomizudera with my mother. hotel is pretty new, and staff's english skill is really good. they helped me to solve all the question about transportation inside kyoto, and how move to osaka. the bed and pillow in the room is the best one i stayed in japan (compare to tokyo/osaka). size is proper for two people.

A Wonderful Surprise”

Staff, Location, Room Size (for Kyoto), Cleanliness... etc.

I have stayed in Kyoto three times and this was by far my best hotel experience there. I went with my husband, two-year-old son, my sister, and my parents. I expected the rooms to be the size of a closet - most rooms in Kyoto are- but these were relatively spacious rooms with lovely decor. I don't usually think of a Best Western as a good hotel but I could not have asked for a better experience. The staff was extremely kind and helpful (they recommended an absolutely delicious restaurant a couple of blocks away). The rooms were clean. The hotel is in a great little neighborhood and although you do need to walk two blocks or so to catch the subway, it wasn't so far that it was ever troublesome. Hotels are generally more expensive in Kyoto... they just are. But, by comparison, this was a wonderful hotel for the price range. My biggest complaint - there isn't an iron in the room - but they might have brought one up if we had asked ... we never did. Other than that small drawback (and it may have been a plus for my husband) I can say that I highly recommend this hotel.

Convenient location, clean rooms, good service

We love our stay at Hotel Vista Premio! The hotel is 1 min away from Teramachi shopping street and 5mins walk to Nishiki market. There is a bustop in front of the hotel which has buses to many places of interests. The hotel rooms were decent size and very new and clean! All staff speaks good english and are very helpful!

Great hotel with lovely rooms and friendly staff”

Staff, room size, nearby shops/stores

Our stay at the Best Western Hotel in Kyoto was a lovely experience. Compared to all other hotels I stayed in within Japan (across the Kansai + Tokyo areas), the room was bigger with a very ample sized bathroom. I mention this as my experience with Japanese hotel rooms has been rather... shall we say, compact? :P The hotel is around 5 minutes walk from the nearby subway station Kyotoshiyakushomae (that name's from memory, so hopefully it is correct), with a couple of convenience stores (7/11 + Family Mart) on the way. There are also a variety of food stores in the area, ranging from shabu-shabu and ramen, to Japanese curry. Other positives aside, the thing that stood out for me the most during our stay at this hotel was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. When asking questions they didn't know, they would quickly search online and come up with a good answer. Furthermore, one day I selfishly asked one staff member to try and explain things to me in Japanese (having been taught a little at university) to act as a bit of personal study. There were a few things he obviously dumbed down for me by using simpler language, and despite my flaws, he put up with me throughout the explanation. Furthermore, unlike some other hotels, the "itterasshai" and "okaerinasai" greetings were uttered every time we came/left the hotel. The staff were always friendly, and as a result, both my partner and I loved our stay there. We cannot recommend the hotel enough.

Wonderfully New!”

Location, cleanliness, comfortable beds!

the best western is brand new! so new that even with their own driving directions, the taxi wasn't sure where it was! thankfully, our first taxi from kyoto station drove us right to it. it was our second taxi that couldn't find it. once we pinpointed the two main streets, it was a superb location! it is important to remember that it is on rokkaku dori from mishikigawa dori. i'm not sure if those names are 100% correct, but if you read the info, you will be able to match the names. additionally, it is diagonally across from the kyoto hotel & spa and down the side street next to kyoto mina...a department store. the staff were quite nice; allowing us to drop off our luggage, go exploring, and when we returned later than the normal check-in time, they had put the luggage in our room and had it waiting for us. they spoke very little english and were not able to help us with any sight-seeing advice or tours. in order to get a taxi, you needed to walk to the main street; which really wasn't bad...a "city block" for those who have "western" minds! we did not eat at the hotel restaurant. what saved us food-wise was the croissant shop just across from the hotel; opened late, but not early and the starbucks to the right as you walk out of the hotel! overall, great price, location and comfort!

Great hotel to stay in Kyoto”

Good location, clean, very helpful staff, very nice rooms

we very much liked our stay in best western kyoto. the rooms were nice and clean. but just like most hotels of its kind in japan, there is no wifi available in the room and you need to go to the hotel lobby. the lobby is quite small and there are no sofas to sit, only what looked liked cushioned boxes beside the elevator, but nevertheless comfortable. for the amount we paid, i thought that the we got more than our money's worth. if we get to visit kyoto again, my family wouldn't mind staying in the same hotel. we liked it actually. the staff were friendly. they can speak english albeit not that good but were able to communicate with us nevertheless. they were definitely most helpful.

Great location with friendly staff”

Location, staff, quiet

Our five night stay was very pleasant. This was our second stay at the Best Western Kyoto and we came back because of the great location, right next to Teramachi shopping street and within easy walking distance to the river, Pontocho, Gion and the Metro. There is even a big cinema complex right around the corner if you want to go and see a movie. The staff are very friendly and helpful with good English. Our room was small but comfortable and probably one of the quietest hotel rooms we have ever stayed in. I don't know how you would go if you had a large amount of luggage though as there is not much room to put bags. We have stayed in other hotels in Kyoto but this is easily the best location for what we wanted to do during our stay.

clean nice and good position

we stayed in kyoto 4 nights but unluckily only 1 night in this hotel. we liked it at once. the hotel is very nice, clean and the room was really big. we got upgraded for free and it has been a good welcome. the bathroom was big as well. even if in the street there are lot of place to eat and drink our room in the 3 floor was completely quite and we had a good night. staff are very nice and give us good advice. they speak good english and you know that here in japan this is not common to happen. the street of the hotel is full of good place to eat or drink something. the only regret is the lack of wi-fi in the room, but this seems normal in japan. if i come back in kyoto this is the place i will be.

3 days in Kyoto”

We were so pleased with the central location of this hotel! Easy 20 min bus ride from Kyoto station. Right off a Main Street to get to Gion, Pontocho and nearby shrines. Many nearby convenience stores. Breakfast was included in our rate as well! This was a delicious buffet of very fresh Japanese food, many tea/coffee options. Very nice since most surrounding area restaurants don't open until around 10. Room was clean and a little larger than an average size hotel room in Japan. Staff was super helpful and helped us book a Suntory whiskey tasting tour. Would highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Kyoto!

Superb location”

location, clean, staff

We were a group of 8 people, including a few seniors. We really enjoyed staying here. The bathroom was the largest I have ever been to in Japan with good utensils and a bathtub. The bed was nice, but some complaint that the pillow was not soft. The air conditioner worked well. The location was great and within walking distance to several places like shopping arcade, restaurants, Kiyomizudera, Gion, etc. This was really worth the money. Only 10 min walk from Kawaramachi-station. YOu can buy the bus pass from the tourist center at Kawaramachi-station before hand. However, the traffic can be horrible, so taking taxi can be a good option

Value for money, helpful staff, good location

we stayed in best western hotel kyoto for 5 nights - a pleasant experience! the rooms are spacious compared to other hotels in japan that we have stayed, with all the amenities you might need. the staffs were really helpful, though sometimes had trouble communicating in english. the hotel is in the middle of a nightlife district, so you can find a lot of things to do after close hours of kyoto (which is normally 6 or 7 pm). it can be easily accessible by buses. there are also a lot of food choices and shopping areas around the neighborhood.

Good location! Wish I had stayed longer”

Near shopping and restaurants

I'm very glad that we stayed at the Best Western, however we arrived after 10pm and had a tour booked at 7:30am, and we only spent one night in Kyoto. The hotel kept our luggage for us while we toured and the BW was in walking distance from a different hotel drop off. Before picking up our luggage, we wandered the area. Great shops! The Loft is right near by. We also ate at a great okonomiyaki place that was right across from the hotel. We stayed in Kyoto during fall foliage peak, and also near the November 23rd holiday, so we found Osaka to be more economical, however, I wish I had had more time in the area near the hotel.

Excellent hotel”

We visited Kyoto for three days. The hotel is in a very good central location and it is very easy to travel all around Kyoto on the excellent bus service which is three to four minutes walk from the hotel. Breakfast is not included but we found a very good café/bakery just four minutes walk away which did excellent bacon and eggs. Our room was quite spacious, with a very good king size bed, good Wi-Fi, TV, bath with shower and tea/coffee making facilities. Really enjoyed the stay and would highly recommend

Great and the best hotel”

very good hotel

The hotel is very good, the staff are always help when you asked for map direction, near from Mina dept. store, 10 minutes walk from Sanjo station and only 1 minutes walk only from Kawaramachi Sanjo bus stop (in front of Mina dept. store) if use city bus. They provided pajama for couple, there is so lovely. Nishiki market just 5 minutes by walk and many shops and food can found near around the hotel.

Great hotel, Great service and Great location”

locations, food, shopping district

this was one of our best stay in first trip to japan. hotel area fill with numerous of shop places and food havens, suitable if you are here to explore kyoto food. hotel is close to bus stop so we are easily get around the city for attractions. hotel service was really good when providing us an upgrade to double non-smoking room without any charges and really helpful in providing us an adapter for our iphone. the room has great design fuse between traditional and modern. hotel amenities are great as well. we had a great stay and definitely recommend other friends to stay in and if we have a chance to come back, it definitely will be considered our stop again.

Pleasant surprise”

Great location + Value for money

- The hotel is located at the heart of Kyoto shopping district. - Easy access to all the top sites in Kyoto as bus stops and subway station were just within minutes walk. - The room is way way way better then I have anticipated. Very tastefully done. A top 3-star hotel. I would say the room is even 4-star standard. - Lots of great restaurants around the hotel. - Very helpful staff. Ask them anything and they will give you the answer.

Very convenient location and close to everything you need.”

Very convenient hotel. Shinkyogoku shopping district is right next to the hotel. Very close and within walking distance to Nishiki market, Teramachi shopping arcade, and train station. There is local food stall selling Taiyaki (a Japanese fish shaped waffle with sweet red bean paste and beans filling) opposite the hotel you need to try when you stay here. Sweet and yummy! Very safe location to walk alone at night for a female tourist like me. Very friendly, polite and helpful staff. By the way the hotel also provides luggage delivery service to deliver your luggages to any ryokans or hotels in Kyoto. We used this service to transfer our luggages to a ryokan in Gion as we had a tour booked at the same day we checked out from the hotel and we didn't even need to store and came back to pick up our luggages at our hotel.
